Elden ring FPS problem cap 45-50 fps
Ok. I bought this game when it just launched. In that time, had a RTX 2070 Super, and tried to play it. I had 40-50 fps, no matter the resolution (2K, 1080p, 720p) or the quality (Max, High, Medium, Low). Just in 4K in max there was a change for worst (30 fps or less) but that is normal. I tried many things, and the thing it works partially, was turning off EAC. I said partially, because its solves the perfomance issue, but i cant play online, so i give up and wait for a fix.

One year later, more or less, i bought a new graphic card RTX 4090. I tried a few demand games and it works perfectly. So, i tested the elden ring, and ohhh no.... it was the same. Nothing changes. The same 40-50fps as max. The only change now is that in 4K in max settings, i have 40-50 fps, so, definitly there is something capping the fps. Again, when i turn off the EAC, have the solid 60 fps in 4k, everthing at max.

My specs are:
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro x64
Processor: Intel Core I7-8700
Memory: 24 GB RAM DDR4 DRAM frecuency 1200MHz
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX4090 Gigabyte

Now, im out of ideas. 1 year later there isn't a fix for my problem, and now i don't have many hopes that from software will fix this specific deal. I want to play this game with all his features, at max capacity and with online. If someone has this kind of problem and has a solution for this, please tell me. I would really appreciate it.

Fwiw (and from what others have posted on these forums), the game itself is capped at 60fps, because the underlying game engine (ie. the game's physics, for lack of better terms), are tied to the fps. Add on top of that, your CPU and RAM are probably bottle-necking your GPU. The 8700, although listed as a 'Recommended' system requirement, it is also several generations old now... perhaps too old to fully feed the 4090.

the game just runs really poorly. even a 4080 will drop below 60 at 4k under the right circumstances (the pollen/light beam plants being a good example).

And the game runs free of bugs with its fps unlocked too which beggars belief we still get games locked to any framerate these days.

Yeah, i know there is capped a 60 fps... and really.. that is all i want.,,, just 60 fps, at least in the 95% of the game. Also i know there is a degree of bottle-necking, and searched information about that. Al least in elden ring in 4K there is a 22% of bottle necking and 2k a 48% (PC build website). . But...... that doesnt explain the constant 40-50 fps that i have in all settings. And we are talking of a graphic card at least thrice more powerful than a 2070. Also, is the hardware is the problem, disabling EAC wouldnt be do anything.

Your CPU is the bottleneck. That's why changing resolution and graphics settings doesn't change the frame rate. I have the same issue,

However, I have a 6700k (4/8) and I'm getting the same frames as you at 1440p with a 3080. So I'm really puzzled how you are getting the same frames at 1440p.

Now, there is one possibility, that being the game is running on one thread, and we are both running the game at the same speed on one thread, being 4.1 gigahertz.

CPU and RAM bottleneck.

I also noticed your RAM's speed.... 1200MHz for DDR4?? That's likely way too slow, even for this game. Unless that's a typo, that can't even be correct, because the lowest speed for the DDR4 spec is 2133MHz. Is there any way you can set the XMP profile in the BIOS to a higher RAM speed? Shoot for 2133MHz or higher... and only if your power supply can handle an overclock.

Not a typo. Most tools display the "DDR speed". Actual speed is half of that. With that in mind, OP's DDR RAM speed is 2400MT/s.

Nice prove for CPU/RAM bottleneck with this game.

Judging by the RAM amount you are not in the flull flesh dual channel mode, btw
>1200MHZ
WUT?
That's ddr2 speed right there, and even if that means 2400 actually, that is low enough to cause some issues with bad ported games. You migh wanna try some OC if your motherboard permits such actions.

Yeah, like they said before, the RAMs are DDR4-2400, and they are in dual Channel. The frecuency that shows is halved. My motherboard can have at max 2666, so it not to much upgrade unless i change it.

Watching a few comparison videos, it seems the cpu is really the problem. I dont know either why i have that same FPS even at 1080p or 1440p... maybe my cpu is so bad for this game than it cant surpass the 50 fps no mather what? Also, i still dont sure why disenabling EAC solve this issue, do it have some kinf of impact on the cpu?

It is not really the CPU it is the bandwidth your RAM has with 2400 MHz. EAC needs additional bandwidth, if you deactivate EAC you get a boost for the game.

so far the minimum frequency to get stable high FPS is at 3200 MHz, the more the better.
