Best weapon for pure Int?
Basically, shortsword even with magic enhancement really isn't cutting it. Pure Faith has cipher pata and Coded Sword, is there an equivalent for magic? Like a glintstone blade or something

If you're willing to spend a little on dex then moonveil or wing of astel are both amazing.

With astrologer start, Moonveil requires far more points dedicated than Astel, so thanks for the advice, I'll probably use the wing, once I progress Ranni some more, since it's heavy attack seems useful

try using a staff - best weapon for pure int and it can shoot spells

try anything you can get your hands on. wing of astel ps, dark moon GS, royal GS, also dont forget anything you have that can be infused with affinity can technically turn barebones weapons into your desired int.

Sword of Night and Flame. One of the weapon skills (it has two) is a mini Comet-Azur that scales purely from INT and costs a fraction of FP of normal Comet Azur.
Other than that I would go with Moonveil Katana. I think the skill does pure magic damage scaled from INT as well. It also looks cooler and have lower stats requirements.

Clayman's Harpoon, Moonveil, Death's Poker. Pick your poison.

Or be a chad and just spam Carian Slicer.

The closest thing to a Cipher Pata or Coded Sword equivalent for a pure mage would technically be the Glintstone Kris. While the dagger does has STR and DEX requirements (unlike the faith weapons), the starting values for an astrologer (the optimal class for pure INT) are enough to wield it. The Ash of War is also pretty good (it's essentially an upgraded, chargeable Glintstone Pebble).

Otherwise, most decent INT weapons (like the Dark Moon Greatsword, Wing of Astel, Moonveil, Bastard's Stars, etc.) will require some STR or DEX investment.

Tbh 99% of what I use is Carian Slicer or greatsword, almost feels like Im accidentally turning my magic build into a quality build. I just want a weapon so I dont waste FP against trash mobs.

The stat requirements are a bit too high for me to use night and flame for my pure Int build, but I'll probably reconsider when its time for a hybrid faith/Int build.

Used a character builder to test those weapons, and Clayman's Harpoon is probably best choice, since it lets me put an extra point few points into Vigor, so I'm not made of paper mache, thanks for the suggestion!

I would say Darkmoon Greatsword, only requires 16/13 str/dex and basically all of its damage comes from int. The weapon art is super FP efficient, too, and can scale as magic/skill/charged damage.

Glintstone Kris (dagger) or unironically the carian regal sceptre (staff) cuz both have very strong ashes of war.
Sorcerers generally want to level dexterity for the casting speed. Having a melee backup is always a good idea, and there are a few excellent Int / Dex weapons.

Personally, I really like a Cold Nagakiba.

If you are willing to invest a little bit into Str getting dual wielding Helphen Steeple and Darkmoon GS are good options. Good INT scaling, great magic damage, nice stance damage (Greatswords) and frost buildup to boot.

lots of folks in this tread including OP seem to have tunnel vision on somber weapons.

every infusable weapon can be an int weapon - just put magic affinity on it. just because you are an int build does not mean you are limited to innately int leaning weapons or even int ashes of war.

if your build can meet min req's for a weapon, you can magic infuse it and use it. its now an int weapon. just because you are not a str build does not mean you cant make use of a str leaning weapon like zweihander or claymore, or that you can put a physical ash of war on that weapon, like giant hunt.

int equivalent to coded sword is carian ss. they do a buttload of damage, especially in a powerstance. int infused katar will be very similar to cipher pata.

id recommend just trying some different infusable weapons out on lower level enemies - find a moveset you like that you feel you play well with. upgrade it and magic infuse it.
