Garden of eyes mod is 5 bucks a month?
Is that even legal? They're kinda reselling assets that dont belong to them fully. They altered content + created but they still need to use fromsofts assets to create them?

Sorry to say this, but you (OP) are kind of a fake news spreader here.
They don't charge for the mod. You get access to the mod if you support them via patreon, this way they are able to create the mod. There's a big difference. You don't ever have to download the mod, when supporting them via patreon, you can just support them and never every use the mod. They are not selling the software. One thing though, they are violating copyright and every mod that includes assetts from a game, does violate copyright laws, so it's impossible to legally make such a mod in the first place, and is always just tolerated by the rights holder. As soon as money is involved, it should become impossible to distribute such a mod without written permission. So, I doubt Namco can suo duo to the Patreon income, but they can DMCA the whole mod within their right.

Anyway, you're kinda dumb, if you pay to get access to a mod. What was Bethesda's Creation Club again, something bad for the industry and consumer? Nah, lets pay again for mods, because it's not done by a publisher, lol.

You are supporting those creators though, but I still don't really get it. To each their own. I don't see that mod taking away any future interest in Fromsoftware made dlc, and given that you must own Elden Ring to install the mod, it's also advertising and might bring in more customers. Even piracy brings in new customers who might not have bought the game anyway or not without a demo to play, so taking legal actions is never to be easily considered.

You need a patreon account to login to the launcher they make you use. In turn, you need to pay for an account with their page. You need to pay to access assets that aren't fully theirs.

I don't think legality of mods have anything to do with price.
If mods use game assets then they can be considered illegal in US and UK.
It's illegal to use mods and save editors in Japan.

https://www.realgear.net/news/modding-equals-fine-jail-time-japan/#:~:text=According%20to%20Japan's%20Association%20of,million%20yen%20or%20around%20%2446%2C000.

Interesting read. Im really thinking this is illegal now. Not that i can do anything about it, i was just curious about the mod cause, im not gonna lie, it looks amazing. It has its own launcher, which is weird enough but whatever, its convenient. I find the launcher online through some reading (no, didnt buy. you can find the mod for free online) but you still need to login with a patreon account to use the launcher >___>

So that in turn had me thinking...how is this legal? Ive been messing with mods for at least 10 years now and ive never seen anything like this.

Like i said, the legality of Modding in japan is a misinterpretation of a japanese law made by bad journalist, on top of that, they are not even giving their source which should be a huge redflag to anyone
Hard to say where the limit is - I mean there are plenty of modders on patreon now - are these paid mods? Hmmm ;)

I'm fine with Modders on Patreon giving an early version of their mods to people that are paying if they do release their mod for free after that

The thing with mods is that you still need to buy full game. It’s hard to prove that developers lose any money on mods. If anything it can promote the game even more. Streamers playing mods it’s a free advertisement of often already dated games.
The only company that I see suing modders would potentially be Nintendo.
i feel like you made this cuz you dont want to spend money on the mod bruh be mad rofl

Or Rockstar
Yes, selling modded content for any game is illegal.
The current state of 'modding' and it's general legal status is this.

Individuals may ask for monetary support, but can not require it.

How ever in it's current form, individual mod creators who run servers for their content to be used by a player base, may restrict access to those servers to be behind the donation paywall, but the mods have to be 'open' enough for anyone to take them, modify them, and use the mod without paying.
(Old WOW, and GTA Private servers, helped set this precedent)

There are exceptions, or have been, including Bethesda allowing content creators to charge for their content, after the failure of their open modding platform.

AND for the most part, modding most games is illegal, under their individual TOS, it's just that the process is protected, until a time at which, the publishers of the game start missing out on potential profits.

Report the page to Bandai and let them deal with it

People charging for mods now? What a joke
Yeah, and they have been doing that for several years now. It's stupid. I get that they need the money, but they can just ask for donations. It's not that difficult.
I'm surprised most mods are free tbh

I'm not. If you need a monetary incentive to make art you shouldn't be making it in the first place.

Its been proven that people do donate quite often when it comes to mods that are worth $$$$$
