The Vigor Gate
Look, I love dark souls 3. One of the things I like about it is how you can easily play through the entire game within the 20-30 vigor level range. I don't like leveling "passive stats", like vigor, endurance etc. I think it's boring. It's one of the reasons I can't get into dark souls 2 because of the adaptability stat that you have to pump to get a halfway decent roll.

I like this game, however I absolutely hate "The Vigor Gate". I hate how much you have to level vigor in this game, especially early game, so you don't get one-shotted by every attack. I want to spend my levels on ♥♥♥♥ that actually effects my build and isn't just a flat HP bonus.

Well, you do you.

Then git gud and learn how to dodge or use an of the many tools at your disposal. These "game should adapt to me" threads are super cringe.

Well, late game is where you really want to hit those mandatory vigor levels. In DS3 you'll also benefit of vigor in early game (if PvPing it literally will decide winner before battle starts), but mid to late you can manage much more than ER. DS3 variety is astounding compared to ER, where build variety is just illusory since there's a lot of useless trash to keep switching until you realize there's only one or two good builds.
Is DS3 PvP really exponentially better than in this game? I haven't played this game a lot since my first playthrough on release, but I wanted to play it again and get more in-depth with the PvP, since that is my favourite part of ds3. If elden ring pvp has less variety than ds3 though, I'll probably just stick with ds3 pvp.

lol

seriously tho, there are some solid tools in this game to i-frame right through things so you can keep your Vig low. I run two pure casters with 40 vig and I have to find ways not to get hit - or use buffs.

out of all the souls games this is probably the one with the most leeway simply because you don't have to follow a linear path and there is a lot to do.

you only need 60 by endgame at best, and thats with an extra 30 levels on average to work with.

if you just pump 10 into vig at the start your basically just set for all of limgrave and south, and most of the lakes, which is a huge chunk of the game

60 by endgame, at most, the key words being "endgame" and "at most", i beat it with 40 on my first character, cause i had no plans on pvping.

good try though, i guess?

So, depending which level you want to reach and how much vigor you want to have when you complete the game, you should to put a point in vigor every three to five levels. Yeah, that's soo horrible, I have no words ;) Btw every game in history with hit points has a stat that increases hit points. And this always affects your build.

30VGR = 994HP
40VGR = 1450HP
50VGR= 1704HP
60VGR=1900HP
99VGR= 2100

40VGR looks like a very nice sweet spot.
The reason people go with 60VGR is because other stats give so little and that 450HP does make a bigger difference. Also Morgott's Great Rune and talismans add extra x% of your base HP. So the more HP you already have - the more you get. On the other hand if your HP is low it's hard to fix it with talismans.

Low IQ responses.

I don't know why people here think reddit is so bad. Steam forums are like 80% whiners for any given game. Reddit actually has useful game information.

Exactly.

Dunking on Reddit while posting on the Steam forums is not the flex you guys seem to think it is.

Anytime someone references Reddit in a bad way on here it just shows me they have zero self-awareness. I'm not saying Reddit is better, but at the very least it's not worse lmao.

I think reddit is objectively better. The difference is less obvious for very popular games like this one but for almost all games, reddit almost always has better informed posters and posts.

Seriously, check any random game on steam. It's mostly whiner posts.
