Saved game not showing up in game menu?
Hello I recently changed from gaming on laptop to desktop. Using the same external SSD. Located Elden Ring runs perfectly but my saved game from when playing on laptop is not listed in the Load Game menu. I'v done the "manage game files" in Steam. Has no problem locating game files just not the saved games. How can I locate my previous "saved" game files? Thanks

They are located in C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing

Did you made backup of those files?

No I didn't back up file. The saved game shows when I run it on my laptop. Just doesn't show up when I run it on desktop.

This is strange, cloud saves should Transfer the save files automatically to the Desktop the Moment you start the game, what says the could status next to your start Button in steam ? Is it the same steam Account?

If the same Account is used try to delete the elden ring folder in appdata at the Desktop.
Open appdata by use this command.
%appdata%
Close steam or restart the Computer, go to steam library and there should be a info that your cloud status mismatch by click at the info you should have a Option to syncronize the cloud data with the Computer.

It should weite all savedata from cloud save to your Desktop.

If this does not work there are two options, your cloudsave data is corrupted or your Windows at the desktop has a problem.

Thank you I'll try that.
It's weird I'll start up steam on my laptop with the SSD it has my saved game no problem. Now when i open up with my desktop same SSD same account no saved games are listed. I'll try what you posted thanks.

The savegame is not at the same drive, they are saved to a folder at the drive c at the Laptop, so the drive where you have installed the game is independent from the save files but what is strange is that the cloud save does not work for you, nomally the savefiles get installed automatically at the Moment you want to start the game at the new Hardware, if at the laptop the cloud saves are activated.

Yeah, the Windows standard location for things like savefiles and options is the Appdata folder.

It's hidden by default but you can open it easily by just telling Windows to go there directly:
1) open an explorer window
2) click in the address bar and it should turn into a text input field
3) type in %APPDATA% (the percentage signs are part of the name)

When doing this on your old computer, you should see an Elden Ring folder in there - that's where your savefile is located.

Nice! found the %APPDATA% in laptop files like you posted. Now I have two separate DATA files I drag and dropped the old DATA to my Desktop APPDATA folder. It wouldn't read the old DATA just the new save game DATA I started. So to figure things out I removed the new saved DATA and replaced it with the old saved DATA from my laptop and It worked. So now it seems that I have two separate saved game DATA files. I could live with that just one last question. Is it possible to merge those two saved files? They have a same file size and folders with long numbers are the same. Don't know if it would override one and lose the other.? Thanks you all for the help.

it is not possible to merge the files (maybe a tool exist but the chances are high to get a ban) but it sounds like your steam cloud save is disabled at both devices.

Yeah, if you find a way to enable steam cloud save, idk how, then it'll auto-save to the cloud and you should be able to access both your dupe saves on both machines.
