Controller use substantially aids in streamlining the controls of the game. There are hard keybinds for this game which cannot be changed, and that has caused many headaches. I reckon you're better off skipping if controller use is this much of an obstacle.

I completed the game on keyboard + mouse, controller can be easier for some players tho

Yep, you can play this game on M&K just fine. I'd recommend changing the keybinds from the default settings, though.

Hmm these two are good. Therefore yes, it's fine - I'm parroting the negative experiences of others, to be fair.

It took a ton of time to dial in my keybinds but once I did, i prefer KBM over controller.

I moved dodge to right click, heavy to F

Special on 4 (mouse side button)

Alt weapon is center mouse

Items selection is 5 (mouse side button)

Item use is R

and use e + mouse wheel for pouch

I play with a razer naga. I don't think Elden Ring is playable on a standard mouse.

I realize this is way more than you asked for but I thought maybe it;d be helpful if I explained how I made KBM superior to mouse for me. Lots of tweaking.

I envy you greatly - some of the best DS2 PvP guys(my thing) were KB+M users.

Yes it is enjoyable with mouse and keyboard. I play with M&K with mostly default controls, but put heavy attack on a keybind to make guard counters easier to use. otherwise gotta hold shift and hit lmb but if im holding rmb then it just uses the ash. Aside from that its been smooth sailing, beat the game not too long ago and am now going for the other endings.

I hope so! Suing controllers is just a waste of the court's time.

Nah, but some people say it is.

Keyboard: Corsair K70
Mouse: Logitech G502 Hero

Totally doable, but granted.... G Hub software is trash, when all you want is just a simple way to configure buttons and save them directly onto the mouse's onboard memory. They (Logitech) make it so unnecessarily convoluted.

I personally prefer KB + M to controller; you have much better camera control when unlocked.

Regardless, it's perfectly playable. After you go in and change all the initial keybindings of course, which I remain absolutely convinced were chosen and playtested by a crab.

It´s trash on mouse and keyboard and some keybinds can´t be changed for no good reason. Avoid at all cost if you don´t like playing with controller.

I generally prefer KB+M any day of the week, but not for Souls games. It's just so much better with a controller.

I use EMU Light and it solved a lot of frustrations with the input system for me. It allows you to put roll and sprint under different buttons and it prevents you from getting 2-3 rolls when you only wanted one. You still get stored rolls/attacks when you get hit but it's a far cry from the usual problems plaguing this game. In game there's also a setting to disable the camera automatically turning (this was added after Asmongold started complaining, not just about everyone else that was complaining before him about running out of mouse surface).

I've been playing every dark souls type game on a mouse and keyboard and my experience hasn't been compromised in any way, If anything it's been enhanced since I'm not limited to moving a ball that goes in limited directions, for example, using the mouse I can immediately rotate the camera or setup key binds for shortcuts on the keyboard. You guys should definitely give it a try and get used to it. i find it funny that a mouse and keyboard, originally not designed as a video game controller are superior to a device designed specifically for that very purpose.

the lock on is cancer on m and kb move your mouse a micro cm and it changes targets. Might not sound like aids here but once you play you will know
