they're both combat heavy games, and they both have a focus on "boss killing" but their genres are fairly different.
i would say if you like one you might like the other, for similar reasons, but they aren't that close.
Nioh is just as different as Monster Hunter.
It's mission based instead of being a world you explore and the combat is much deeper with a lot of combos and abilities just like MH.
