Calling all avast antivirus users with FPS issues! Try disabling all shields.
This might be information already available, but i think it's worth mentioning anyway.
If you're having issues with stuttering and frame drops, especially when transitioning from one area to another, disabling avast completely drastically improved my experience.

Give it a try and see how you get on. Hope this helps!

If you are using windows 10 or 11 why are you using Avast anyways. I use the windows defender and it does a great job.

I do have to mention I keep a backup of my system so even if I would get a virus I can recover in less then 30 min.

Fair points, old habits die hard i suppose. Removed it altogether now but it does make me wonder how many other issues were down to third party antivirus. You live and learn.

Extra hot tip, just cancel your 3rd party AV subscriptions altogether and uninstall. Defender built into Windows is on par or better than any of them and doesn't mess things up nearly as much, and it's free

so much this. you probably don't need another antivirus unless you're more likely to be the target of attacks for some reason. and even then, avast would probably not be the best choice...

What issues did you have? Frame drops? Has it been fully resolved?

Antivirus are a scam since practically forever at this point. The problem is usually the end user being... uninformed or lacking experience.

Hell, actual hackers actually prefer users with an AV as AVs need a good chunk of permissions to use their functions. A hacker then just has to get into your AV, which is significantly easier.

Currently, only malwarebytes is a recommended program (free version) if you don't heavily mod your browser wih noscript and such.

i wound't do any of that to play a game.
it's definitly not avast.. i have nearly all avast upgrades constantly running in the back ground on high priority and it has never caused a problem in this or any game.

do not turn off your anti virus to play a game ever.

How about you add the entire steam game folder to be excluded from all antivirus shields instead?

this does not deactivate the runtime checker of most of the bad antivirus software that is actually used (known problem for, trend micro, norton, avast, mcafee and some other brands) for some ppl it will work even with this software running but it is rare that this game runs fine without crashes if one of this software is running in background.

They use a outdated methode for runtime analysis and a outdated background service setting that is incompatible with software and games that use the secure access features and the secure memory features of windows 10 and 11.
