Is Bleed still too strong?
I don't know if its because bleed was considered weak in Dark Souls 3, but compared to Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring bleed feels kinda busted. Even with an non-blood infused katana with minimum arcane investment, I am still bleeding most foes relatively quickly (approx. 5-6 hits). Even other players in PvP.

Compared to Dark Souls 3, if you wanted to bleed most opponents, especially in PvP, you would have to blood infuse your weapon and have a good amount of luck investment too. When I used a katana in Dark Souls 3 with no blood infusion or luck investment I recall very rarely being able proccing blood loss on opponents and almost never on players.

So I ask does Elden Ring bleed still need a status buildup reduction? I don't know if it needs as deep as a hit Dark Souls 3 bleed got, but being able to bleed opponents with minimal investment does feel a bit busted imo. Thoughts?

a big difference between DS3 and Elden Ring in regards to bleed is the amount of enemies that are susceptible to bleed (not many vs at least 95% of the game). Bleed is really good in Elden Ring through multiple playthroughs but at least to me isn't that fun. If you don't like bleed then just don't use it or play around with your build.

bleed is stronger in ER but thats fine because its clear they wanted to tie bleed to a stat (arcane) just like they wanted to tie the other status effects to other stats as well. id argue that pretty much every sort of infusion is stronger in this game because of that

In DS3 bleed was strong at first but was nerfed later to being completely useless.
In ER they try to keep it viable.

Bleed was nerfed few times but it’s still kind of OP. There is almost no trade off as bleed weapons aren’t any weaker in pure damage.
Almost all bosses can be bled. Even Malenia. You can also use two weapons at once to proc bleed even faster.

Viable is one way of putting it. Even after multiple nerfs and the fact ER has a mechanic that increases a npc’s resistance to a statues effect after a proc bleed is still OP.

I am definitely on the side that bleed is still OP in PvE at least when players can still spam rivers of blood and melt bosses. Hell I use the pully crossbow with burred bolts and take chunks out of bosses health after a few burst.

Its always the PVP players demanding nerfs just leave it alone now, time to get over nerf everything because you lost a duel

the wording of the first post is confusing. you wrote "compared to elden ring it feels busted". that would mean that it feels busted in DS3.

Yes.

That is one of the things I have noticed. In Ds3, bleed (and poison) infusions made your damage utter crap, which resulted in your status buildup being your primary method of damage. I don't think that is how ER should handle its status infusions as well, but I'm still unsure of how to properly nerf it without killing it like Ds3 did.

Edit: I also recall seeing somewhere (don't quote me) that apparently bleed infusions eventually out damage other infusions at max level for some reason.

Sorry about that. Think I made it less confusing now

I didn't know a mechanic like that existed. Perhaps some more tweaking of could make bleed feel more balanced. You could get the first proc off quickly, but then have keep aggression to get further procs.
