I rly do love Elden Ring but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...
..why are some of the item drops rates needlessly so obnoxiously low?!

To give you some examples of my recent farming endeavours:
(all farming done with a toon wearing full discovery gear while having 99 arcane FYI)

2h+ for a single magma blade.

nearly 2h in to get the full blue silver mail set (still missing the chest lmfao)

1h+ for envoy weapons

another 2h for imp heads

1h+ for gelmir staff

1h+ for noble slender sword & estoc

1h+ watchdog gs

1h+ monks flameblade

...and the list goes on and dont even get me started on certain crafting material.... :steamfacepalm:

Like... WHY?!?!

At this point I totally get why a lot of people resort to using certain 3rd party programs cuz if it takes that long to get a few items you wanna have fun with... oof... and I cant even imagine how bad it would be with a normal toon....

TL:DR: drop rates of alot of items / mats are way too low and could use a change!

Why? Because literally no one expects you to get them all, or really, farm any of them. There are no achievements or other such challenge, or any reward to getting them all. They are just cool rare stuff that occasionally drops for some people.

Have fun killing the same enemies over and over I guess?

The reasoning probably is so not everyone has the same builds. If players have different weapons from other players, they are likely to try out different strategies.

That said, I don't know how it took you 2 hours to get a single item. You must be doing something wrong.

I think it's a reasonable complaint, many people have complained about going through the entire game and basically finding no other weapons or armor ( outside of boss rune stuff ).

There's no real reason why things should have a 1% drop rate it's ridiculous.
I mean one of the biggest things about Souls games is to experiment with different builds, and I also think it adds to this silly nature of it wherein people feel compelled to look things up online.
No one wants to waste hours grinding for a weapon or even two for power stancing when they don't even know if it can drop to begin with and if it's even good.

The reward is actually finding something that you like and being able to use it.

This doesn't even make any sense, you're just making things up.
Then why did they allow the Rivers of Blood meme to happen?
The most OP and gimmicky stuff is some of the easiest and least grindy to get, the Mimic Ashes comes to mind too.
Or the laser sword I forgot the name of that could one-shot bosses on day 1...

It can easily take you two hours if RNG isn't on your side, especially if you need two of them which you most likely do since powerstancing is so op.

When I feel the drops are too sparse, I reboot the game session. The game seems to make a pseudo-RNG roll at startup to determine the success rate of drops, and that seems to matter more than the Arcane stat (one of my builds got 2 NSS with 10 Arcane in minutes).

Not really. What's the alternative, that fromsoft wants to waste your time grinding certain items?

Rivers of Blood is found at the end of the game. The sword of night and flame can be found early, but requires a large stat investment into INT in order to be useful. Even then, you might as well use the spell version at that point.

And you're missing the point, the goal isn't to prevent people from becoming overpowered. The goal is to get them to try out different strategies from other players to become overpowered.

Armor also takes quite a long time to farm of the enemies, there is no reason for that to be that way.

Sure there is, you don't want everyone wearing the same few outfits. Furthermore, you feel special walking around in a rare armor that few other people have.

Gid gud op.
level arcane, and use the silver birdleg item thingy.
lots of items which makes farmin ez pz.
never needed more than 10 minutes to get what i wanted.

TL;DR if you gonna farm, use the right tools.
Mewsha Jan 13, 2023 @ 11:16am
I think drop rates are too low but damn are you unlucky!

I have 10 arcane and use the Silver Tear Mask with the Silver Scarab and get around 192 item discovery.

The longest item for me to farm was the Lazuli Robes and Aristocrat Crown. Those took me about 20 minutes to get.
JocularJosh Jan 13, 2023 @ 11:18am
If you think this is grindy you never had to grind for covenant items in the previous souls games.

I still haven't recovered from that.

The only farming I did took about an hour, and that was for 2 Magma Blades. Using the Silver Fowl foot definitely helps.

Poor drop rates have been a thing since DeS1.
