Death sorceries need about 2 - 3 more spells to compete
So I've been testing a 50 Int / 50 Fth build for the last few weeks, and it's great fun, but it's clear that Death sorceries lag far behind Magma sorceries and Flame / Lightning / Crucible Knight incantations in damage and utility. Hell, the AoE Lightning Spells are insanely powerful as is, no extra buffs, and serve as great bumrusher stoppers. And with the right buffs, the Magma sorceries do ridiculous damage (~2k median for charged Magma shot). And don't get even get me started on the Giant flame spells.

Anyway, Death Sorcery is fun, but lower tier, and could benefit from the following spells types:

1. Ranged Nuke - e.g. "Storm of Souls" - where skeletal hands attack in an AoE from the ground. A ranged nuke is sorely needed.

2. Melee Attack - e.g. "Skeletal Scythe" - kinda self-explanatory. A side-ways cutting scythe similar to the Carian sword spells. Maybe leaves slight Death Blight (hehe).

3. Support (more of a nice-to-have) - we have all the amazing support incantations, but what something for Death sorcerers? I dunno, something like "Spectre Form" where melee damage is reduce by magic and fire increased. Some sort of undead or spirit form.

What are yall thoughts on Death sorceries?

This is the kind of gap that I think FROM Software usually addresses very capably with DLC. I'm thinking of some of the faith spells that were introduced into DS3 with its DLC, especially something like the excellent lightning arrow that you could charge and wait to release.

Totally agree given their excellent DLC track record.

We need to fix the goshdarn Death weapons too. Why do the Death themed weapons have no fth scaling when all the spells do??? :(

Totally true...unacceptable! At least we have Sword of Night and Flame. Getting 820 AR with all the Fire buffs and the Fire special does like 2k.

The dual stat spells just in general need more.

Their staffs/seals are all late game. They have no real early/mid game support in either spell's availability or equipment availability.

They need a weapon affinity that supports them.

They just need to be a dedicated spell type more then sub types of other spells for them to be fixed.

Maybe name the category "Hexes" or something...
