(SOLVED) Freezing every 3-5 mins. This sometimes crashes PC. HELP!
I think i've tried everything on google, can't fix it. Leave suggestions on what i could try in the comments please.
Windows 10, ASUS ROG STRIX-Z390-F GAMING, RTX 2080 TI - I7-8700k CPU - 16g ram, 500gb ssd, 1tb hdd, 750W PSU. All temps are below 68c while playing.
This problem occurs on Elden Ring ONLY.

I've done benchmark tests on my GPU and RAM - it showed no problems.

List of things i've tried:
Reinstalling the game, updating gpu, changing hard drive, clearing windows temp + %temp% + PREFETCH files, clearing NVIDIA's DXCache, uninstalling MSI afterburner + RTSS, disabling antivirus, "/nolightfx" in launch-commands on steam, disabled steam-overlay, disabled NVIDIA-SHIELD's overlay, CCleaner, launching the protected game exe, making a new character, all settings, Windowed and fullscreen.
EDIT: sfc /scannow in CMD

sorry if this post is a little messy, any help is appreciated! <3

EDIT 2:
After checking event viewer, it said "Disk 2 has been surprise removed.". I checked it multiple times after it stuttered and this game up every time.

I have tried to fix the issue using these steps: https://www.minitool.com/news/disk-has-been-surprise-removed.html
None of them fixed it.

Then i found more people who had the same problem:

I fixed the "Disk 2 has been surprise removed" issue by doing link below.

"Disk 2 has been suprise removed." came up when i checked event viewer. After a bit of digging i finally found someone that has the same issue. (link below)

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/disk-1-has-been-surprise-removed-event-id-157-xvd/bdbfc50c-d0f0-4bea-b075-24ebf200f62e

I only have 2 storage devices and i ran CHKDSK in CMD on both of them, the results showed that there were no problems. I also tried some other "fixes" that google suggested, but none of them fixed the problem. So im assuming that my problem has something to do with the link above.

I found this as well: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/disk-6-has-been-surprise-removed-my-pc-has-no-disk/64db5165-8d61-483b-b69b-39d528b94099?page=2

I did uninstall all the xbox related things from my pc, stopped everything "xbox" in windows services. Went in to device manager and uninstalled all the Xvd that showed up (hidden too) . But the issue still persists.(restarted pc after i uninstalled them)

I suspect that you're on the right track.

ER as well as DS3 and Sekiro all use a very similar version of the game engine and also all exhibit the input polling bug. This bug checks for input from ALL devices, not just KB/M and game controllers. This means that anything that connects or disconnects (even if it's just going into sleep mode) will cause a stutter.

XBox Gamepass games are mounted as virtual HDDs that behave just like real hardware, including "going to sleep". The only solution really is to delete these games. Though supposedly, moving these games to a non-standard location works as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/t4efv5/possible_workaround_for_some_microfreezesstutters/

Disabling Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator (MDARE) sometimes works depending on what is on your network and whether or not you have some things like virtual MIDI devices installed. In my case, I have a Roku and a NAS on my network. ER wakes them up due to the input polling bug and each time they wake up, it takes a while for them to respond to the polling request.

Some specific hardware and software can also cause stuttering, particularly RGB devices and their software. iCUE has been a huge offender in the past. It can sometimes be fixed with an upgrade or just by deleting it entirely. I remember one guy who had an RGB keyboard that was the cause of his stutters. His solution was to disconnect his keyboard before starting ER. This worked fine for him since he played using a controller.

have you verified the integrity of your windows OS? /sfc scannow in CMD prompt as admin will attempt to check and repair this.

It sounds like a Windows issue given the thoroughness of your own testing, and there is a known issue with W11 and Elden Ring which others may come to speak on(I'm on 10 with little experience working with W11 users)

Tried it. It said that it found some corrupted files and successfully repaired them. The issue still persists

Same here, I get stuttering/freezing every like 10 min or so, lasts about a second.

a crash of the game create a event log that would give some information what happen.

the freezing is mostly caused by third party antivirus, firewall or security software or by the microsoft assotiation root enumerator that false connect old hardware that is already connected to the system.

known programs that cause problems are trend micro, norton and mcafee.

I added some examples, are they similar to what you're experiencing?

You didn't tell us what version of windows you're on mate, please share that.

Unplug every non-essential device from USBs, and see if the issue continues - sounds dumb, but legitimately fixes a problem inherent to nearly every FS game on PC, and might help here.

The fact that it found corrupt files is likely from the crashing you've experienced and can probably be ruled out of relevance

I would go to your motherboard support page and download the latest Chipset drivers, and BIOS version, to further rule things out

Do you know where i can find the event log? **EDIT: googling it right now :P** I use avast antivirus, I added exeptions and tried disabling it. I also disabled "Microsoft Device Assotiation Root Enumerator" in device manager.

it seems that after 1.08 update the game start to random stutters like examples. I have the same issues with my 3070 ti and 12700 k + 32gb ram ddr5 6000mhz. I never experienced issues like examples since update (i have alot of hours in this game). Any solution will be appreciated. Thx in advice!

this is not true you can play offline and experience the same stutters (if you have some)

maybe avast cause the same problem, deactivate it will not deactivate the services of a antivirus software the only way to find out if it cause the problem is deinstall it (in the case of avast i would also check for a deinstaller tool in the past this software did not deinstall clean)
