Exactly, and when I want to play a female sorceress for example, I can, and it has nothing to do with sexuality or actual gender. Just that in that instance, I want my character to be a female sorceress and not a beefcake sword-swinger. Note that I can also choose to play a beefcake wizard if i want to, or an average male thief, it depends on the mood or why I want a character to be that way, and that is the whole point.

The actual issue though, it seems to me, is on you, OP, for thinking it weird and 'WTF' that people don't care about genders in video games or that you have mental issues with the fact that people can and do choose to play as not-their-gender for a variety of reasons, none of which have to do with smol pp energy.

I go for either/or, for instance, my first two characters were male, then I got bored of that and the next two were females. I feel like it's easier to make pretty/cool/badass girls in these games than it is to either re-create oneself or to make an interesting male face. I enjoy that nothing is impacted gameplay-wise by gender, as well, apart from a couple animation differences(walking, idle, etc.) - variety is the spice of life

Its an rpg, role playing game. I play as a male, I don't stare at his ass, that would be weird. Its also weird to be thinking about sex during combat, but then you have tea bagging. I only tea bag bosses because it looks funny and because your friends think its funny. I have a female character too but a family member created it this Christmas and I play it.
It doesn't really matter but it is kind of like men playing with barbies.

It's not gender politics for people to not feel obligated to play as the gender they are IRL. It's a video game. You can make any kind of character and live your own fantasy.
