His health pool increases, i.e. he gets tankier.

EDIT: you probably won't really notice much of a difference until +6.

Mimic tear copies your offensive stats exactly, the only thing that upgrading it increases is its HP pool (though it goes really high so it's still worth it)

Also two things worth keeping in mind:
- Mimic tear can't change weapons so make sure you hold the weapons you want it to use when you summon it
- It can copy your 10 consumable slots (but not your pouch items) so make sure to fill them with rare buff items, resins, bombs etc for the best effect

ahh i see, does the vigor stat not affect the mimic tear?
Yeah, pre-nerf he would switch weapons and drink from the flask too. Seriously OP ash back then.

Still is amazing with the proper RL and loadout. Not going to link here again the Radagon kill i recorded but my mimic played better than me and Erdtree heal spammed itself to nearly 100% from 60% for the Elden beast.

There is no better option for high NG since the mimic scales together with you, others spirits ashes no. To the point.....you can summon one in Gatefront (first camp of Godrick goons) and some will have troubles dealing with a single guard.....(high NG)

Mimic Tear is the best ash in the game just because of how customizable it is, it can do whatever you want it to do as long as you have the right gear for that playstyle. Makes me kinda wish there were options to customize other spirits as well...

Mimic Tear replicates your inventory as well, so if your build is not dps oriented, your Mimic Tear will be slow to deal damage as well. It will also use consumables from your pouch, so you will see it doing things like spamming chicken legs instead of killing the enemy.

Oh but whatever ash you pick. You can heal all with erdtree heal!
