That means that even at level 99 arcane(Bonus 99%) the chances a 1% drop item will drop becomes 1.99%.
For contrast the silver-pickled fowl foot gives 50% and the talismon gives 75%.
Edit: There really should be early game gear that boosts drop chance even if its only by a small amount like in DS2 with the traveling merchant's hat(25%) and prisoner's taters (15%).
Also watchdragon's parma was given its 50% item discovery in later updates in DS2 so its possible for bad armor/shields to be given item discovery in Elden ring.
Nah, that's his mom.
His uncle also works at Nintendo.
From the Wiki -- To calculate how the droprate improves with a given item discovery, first simply multiply the weight by the item discovery: 2.74 * 20 = 54.8. So the new weight of the item is now 54, meaning there are more numbers that can result in a drop. Lastly, the total weight is increased by the same amount. Weight increased by 54 - 20 = 34, so the new chance of dropping is 54 / 1034 = 0.0522 (5.22%).
Your explanation was cool but wrong. Have a very poggers day.
Items are rare for a reason
I'd rather grind in a loot-based game, like Nioh or Diablo. This isn't fun to grind on. The previous games were slightly more fun to grind, but nonetheless the drop rates in this game are far worse due to the numerity of enemies
