I always recommend that new players who got no experience pick the Knight class, which in this case is the Vagabond because of how going Wretch can make them hate everything about the game.
Well, this isn't my first Souls-like but its my first game in the souls series and ive, personally, legit fallen in love with this game. Absolutely see why its a 10/10.
if you are looking for the most versatile starting class that can be respeced into the widest possible variety of builds, that is usually vagabond. 10 in every stat and starting at RL1 is deceptive. it sounds like the most versatile build, but really it turns out to be unoptimal for almost every build in the game.
Get that min max ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ outta here

Not for "Min-Max" BS.
Its just that anything you find will have a meaning. Be it a weapon, an Armor Set or Spells.
It pushes the exploration aspect to unlimited heights.
If anything, Wretch has one of the best starting weapons for PvE, due to it's relatively high poise damage, allowing you to abuse jump attacks for quick stance breaks.
