If you didn't get good with the Deflect system, you got tfo. That's okay though; many other people couldn't handle it either.
My problem with Sekiro is mastering the deflection system removes any need for other game mechanics. That was my point. My other knock is once I felt the game was gaining momentum...it just kind of ends. It's the one Fromsoftware game I feel would have really benefited having a DLC - heck a DLC based around Genichiro's adventure would have been cool.
2- Bloodborne
Only played that two
Speaking of Genichiro (and FromSoft's utter genius with Sekiro), I absolutely LOVED the final fight with him and Isshin, Sword Saint. When you fight Geni the first and second time in the game, he overwhelms you because you're still early on in your journey. At the end though, you completely destroy him because you've learned everything the game has taught you. That's masterful game design imo.
And then you fight Ishhin next and you're like "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this dude has 3 health bars." But then you realize the final phase is basically a reward since you can deal massive damage with lightning deflect (another great mechanic to master). That's how you create a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ video game.
1. ER (Excellent in almost every way except balance and some of the bosses being
poorly thought out or copied pasted)
2. DS3 (Solid game, only complaint is it's a bit linear)
3. Bloodborn (needs better FPS and load times, but otherwise good game)
4. DS2 (I didn't ever finish this one, but tbh I hate this game, it's janky af compared to the others I've played)
Did not play the others, so I can't rank them.
- Demon's Souls (original one - well-made, solid and complete game)
- Bloodborne (sadly I had a chance only for 1 playthrough, missing DLC)
- Dark Souls 3 (I played it the most, it's a bit depressing, faded world, and music is not my cup of tea, not that memorable)
- Dark Souls 2 (I like it more then SotFS)
- Sekiro (I wish there was more variety)
- Elden Ring (it's a great experience but I can't bring myself to go through it again yet)
All games are good, but Elden Ring and Sekiro are inferior to me in terms of replayability.
King's Field IV also seems like a good game at 200% speed, but I haven't finished it yet. The atmosphere is great, the exploration is very interesting. Closest to DS2.
