Is back button controller a must have for pvp?

I've seen people switch spell, weapon and potions while performing other actions such as running, dodge and just move the character(LS). Without the back buttons, you cant change weapon or spells without lift up your thumb up from the left stick.

Just claw grip with PS4 or PS5 controller. Xbox controllers do not fit for souls games at all.

You can, just use the claw grip. its easy once you learn it
