Tbh the term tryhard is very misused, as it usually refers to people that use meta min maxed builds that offer the best overall advantage in a fight while also usually being the easiest to use. There’s not very much skill that goes into being able to trash people with these builds.

True tryhard builds imo would be the off meta ones that people get creative with and learn well enough to still win with. Meta builds are just noobs taking the easy way out, mostly.

I get why they are called tryhards, cause they will go to any lengths to win, I just think the fact they go for the easiest way is kinda lame.

Tryhards was coined to describe ♥♥♥♥ players that try to compensate for skill with any other measure and then try to pass it off as skill.

If you are using a min maxed build but can clap cheeks with anything you aren't a tryhard you are just good.

I mean, Not all of the user are try hards. I just like halberds and spears, Clean rot spear, Siluria's tree, Banished knight halberd, all are pretty cool weapons that I just enjoy to use, especially the clean rot spear.

Region matchmaking only affects Japan and has been that way since Dark Souls 3, so yeah, good luck with that.

The very first weapon I used back in the old days of Classic Demon Souls was a Divine Halberd. I then repeated that again for my first Dark Souls 1 play through. Never used halberds again until the other day, because I wanted to try out the Golden Halberd, but people do actually use stuff cause they simply like them. I certainly had a lot of fun with the Golden Halberd.

i can somewhat understand being this salty over dual spears - they are just so boring to fight, so braindead to use, and bridge such immense skill gaps, but getting so salty you give up over a halberd is a little absurd.

halberds are good, strong weapons, but they are not meta, they are not one of the best setups in the game, they are not unreactable, OP, broken, or braindead, you can fight halberd with any halfway decent weapon, and their moveset has decent variety with a combo of pokes, slashes and slams. not sure why you would have a problem with halberds.

not sure where everyone is getting the idea that halberds are meta or some kind of tryhard weapon. they are just a decent, well balanced weapon that is moderately strong in pvp. if someone really wanted to "tryhard" there are TONS of other setups to choose before halberd - dual spear, dual lance, single lance, 2h rapier, 2h HTS, slicer mage, dual straight swords, moonveil, and probably some others i'm forgetting.

if you limited yourself to not using anything as good or better than a halberd, you are limiting yourself from using a huge amount of the game's weapons.

You have to understand the people you're talking to:

They are the specialest of snowflakes. If they lose in PvP, or in the case of some of them have to engage in PvP at all, then the world is ending. They're the hero, so if they're losing then something must be wrong, because nothing can ever be their fault.

Anything, everything and everyone else is the problem. Never them.

So they whine about whatever weapons kill them, whatever spells they can't panic roll out of, whatever ash of war might take more than two brain cells to get around.

Because they're the hero, not all these sweaty nerd randos on the internet who use imba weapons.

They actually think like this. It's called malignant narcissism. That's the kind of people you're talking to.
