decent melee build ideas that aren't just spam jumping powerstance l1 or normal r2?

Been trying to find a way to enjoy a melee build if not at all.

Yet, barely any attempt was enjoyable at all.

played with a caster my first run / carian slicer oriented build / holy build which was a lot of fun.

powerstance just absolute disappointing in this game.

Melee builds I've had fun with: keep in mind I only do PvE
-Twinblade + Dragonmaw/Claw
-Powerstance Whips (it's tough but a good challenge)
-Glintstone shotgun sorceress with any melee weapon
-Pyromancer using a straightsword and catch flame, and medium ranged fire incantations
-Crucible incantations with a greatsword or hammer

The only time I'll do a jumping attack build is when I am using the Beast Man's Curved Swords since they deal 2 attacks when jumping, so if you dual wield them, you're hitting the enemy 4 times per jump. Add to that a bleed AoW or buff and you're basically proc'ing bleed every time you jump attack.

Hehe mix crucible incantations with weapons! Amazing and fun, specially for common monsters but not that good for bosses. And the aspect of the crucible: breath sucks....no matter if you are wearing a full crucible armor (4% damage bonus up to 16%) to buffs it....you are better with the real Elden Ring flamethrower, a visage shield!.

But anyways would be nice to know what weapons and spells you have at your dispossal OP to suggest you something specially tailored for your preferences.

Yeah powerstance just dwarfs everything else tbh.
I'm a two handed axe guy, and it gets very obvious very quickly that it wasn't designed to function. I beat everything up to Godskin Duo with a two handed Longhaft Axe but it was a slog. Basically its dodge spam and getting a Sword Dance in there when possible and dying, a lot.
Then, trying powerstanced Bandit Curved Swords with bleed on a dex build? Absolutely stupid, trivialized everything that wasn't a stonedigger or gargoyle.

However, I will say, I very much enjoyed my "beastman" character; Hooked Claws from Stormveil Castle, Urgent Heal, and all the Beastial Incantations. I added Aspect of the Crucible: Horns (and Tail) later, think I had Fire breath too. Got my butt ripped off a few times but its pretty intense opening a fight with Gurranq's Stone and closing in for claws and Beastial Sling. Used Quickstep, just kept it Keen with built-in Bleed. Pretty simple STR + Faith, as Beast incants have low Faith reqs.
You can also use beastman's curved swords, or Cinquedea.
Quite disappointed that Arrow's Reach Talisman does not buff Gurranq's Stone however; same projectile as Rock Sling (which is buffed).

Try two handing for suffering / challenge, Beastial / Crucible incants, or a shield + sword/spear with a Medium shield. Greatshields are for the cowards fearful of earning a few scratches on their dainty faces. Partisan and a Brass Shield gets stuff done.
Prisoner starts with Estoc and Magic Glintblade, I found that extremely fun for most of the playthrough even though I eventually switched to Carian Knight Sword.

That's the main drawback of introducing a jump button. If you're a pure STR build, spamming the jump attack (with the jump attack talisman equipped) should comprise 98% of your entire moveset.

Not true as it depends on the person. I have 1500 hours on ER and lots of builds (I’m good but not the best) and bleed builds are the most boring builds to me ( which is why majority of my chars are str/faith dex/faith mix )

I like twinblades . Honestly, that's about it for the build, just put something on it and go to town. Bleed with blood slash is really good, lightning ram is really fan and for some reason works.
