They're more limited in what they can do, but it's possible; most of the cases I've seen are save editors a la the DS1 script kiddies. Y'know, altered stats to be level 802 in the 125 brackets, HP values hacked to insane levels or frozen alltogether, etc.

Yup. They're rare; I've had one cheater in over 200 multiplayer matches. But they do exist, and they can do really nasty stuff if they want to be a ♥♥♥♥ (get you banned, kill your NPCs or bosses, etc).

@OP DS3 was infested with scriptkiddies, in the thousands, but they aren't a thing anymore in elden ring, because of the presence of EAC. now there's probably more cheaters on PS4/5 than on PC because of the fact that the PS4 can be jailbroken and there's no EAC on consoles.

please, don't spread misinformation. cheaters haven't been able to ruin other people's saves since like March.
the fear of cheaters spreads so easily with such statements...

most comon its ppl that use cheat engine for making some build for pvp or run the game with some late game weapon, but not for ruin other guys experience

The Xbox and PS5 version run terribly. They should not be supported and I regret getting it on the PS5 after being told by a lot of people how well it ran.

The two cheat I've seen the most are

no damage cheat
I encountered many weirdos who get no damage. Even after 2, 3 close range attacks, they get nothing. R1 and R2 do nothing. Though L2 works and does damage!

lag cheat
You hit, the damage is delayed and registered seconds after! Usually 10 sec after, some weirdos can go up to 20 seconds lol.
When I suspect a cheater cheating, I just hit, run and wait tll the damage is registered. It's funny to win a game like this.

Based on IP adresses tracked in Netlimiter, most cheaters are from China. When I pvp japanese, koreans or other asians, it is always smooth and fair despite the latency between europe and asia.

Yes people can cheat, have come across only 1 in Elden ring though. He was losing the fight, ran away and stood still then everyone on the map just dropped dead instantly. Its not nearly as bad as DS3 yet though, and the play experience your gonna get on PC is 10x better then a console. The population is gonna be better on PC too. PC is the GOAT.

@OP so, if you're asking because you're deciding whether to buy and you fear cheaters, the definitive answer here is:

ER has so few cheaters that you're probably not even gonna meet any, unless you very actively engage in multiplayer. and even in that case, you may still meet just a handful in several months.

and remember that lag is a thing, and can make someone look like a cheater because they take no damage (will actually take the damage later all at once, in most cases). there's also still a bug that makes people rarely appear invisible, but at least if you're an invader you can fix it by using a phantom bloody finger.
also, there's a short-duration buff that makes you take no elemental damage. so if you see someone drink something and then not take damage from spells and elemental AoWs for 15 seconds, it's that.

do you use netlimiter to block ip ranges? I've downloaded it but I can't find how to do it.
I've tried with windows' firewall but I had to create so many rules that now it takes a few minutes to start up when I turn on the pc...

cronus zen wont do anything for elden ring lol. its just a glorified remapper, people just happen to use advanced macros with it to abuse aim assist in fps games, but that doesnt apply here.
