Is this game harder than Sekiro?
Just asking as I’m new to FS games. I’ve played but never beaten Sekiro. It was pretty hard but I lost interest in the game due to it being so linear and the fact that you really only have one weapon not counting prosthetics. I’m thinking with this being open world I’d really enjoy it but if it’s hard than Sekiro idk that I’d enjoy too much.

I didn't complete Sekiro - similar reasons I guess. I played thru Elden Ring two times in a row with different characters.

It's a totally different game, only the rouge like mechanic what is common. Beside of that, ER is the easiest game in the souls series. Also you have a huge full open world, hundreds of weapons, skills, sorceries, stances, etc. Sekiro was an action game, ER is an RPG.

sekiro is hard in the sense of having to learn new mechanics that aren't original to the souls series.

Once you bother to learn sekiro's mechanics it gets easier and better

I thought Sekiro was harder. I really never got the hang of it, because a lot of times, I would have the enemies health just as low as the posture bar, and I'm just kinda like, "what's the point?".

But I digress. ER was to me a bit more of a slog, but overall easier. The two are pretty different in gameplay though, I might add. Sekiro seems more "formulaic", whereas ER lets you think outside the box a little more. GL.

This game is a lot less frustrating than Sekiro (which I never finished, despite being a big fan of other Souls games from FS). If you get stuck on a critical-path boss you can just go do one of a dozen other things then come back later.

it depends on how you play the game I guess For me Sekiro is easier due to I don't need to worry about the build or shiny weapons just me parrying everything through the game.

Meanwhile Elden Ring have so many ways to play many different build and many different paths you could go So with that reason it easier for many people.

sekiro is very different, but at the same time i feel comfortable saying its very very clearly a more difficult game. i found the pve combat to be far more enjoyable and rewarding than souls/ER pve personally, but it is much more difficult. the normal portions of the game where you progress thru levels can often be much easier than souls, but the bosses/minibosses can be extremely difficult, and some of them can feel like skill checks for a skill level far beyond what it took to get to that boss.

In ER, you can get overpowered, if you sweep everything.. Ghost summons also makes it a lot easier.
If you go melee only, (esp. with a bigger weapon), you might have a hard time, though.

It depend.

The easier Sekiro gets is using all available tools, killing all bosses and mini bosses, upgrading your vitality and attack and to keep Kuro charm while not ringing the bell.
In comparison with ER if you use every single tool available (including spirit summons, mimic or summoning other players to help yuo or defeat the boss for you) ER is vastly easier.

The harder Sekiro gets is not upgrading anything and using only deflect, jump, dash and attack and not using any prostetic or any other tool and if you fail deflect/jump/dash while ringing the bell and giving Kuro charm back, you may still not die instantly and you can still die once or more.
In comparison with ER if you go only melee attack with dodge and attack, start as wretched and dont level up also going naked ER is vastly harder and more demanding and punishing with your mistakes and some areas may even be off from your reach due to your tools, gear and health limitations such as rot locations.
It's a big difference because Sekrio is the most radical departure From has taken in their SoulsBorne formula.

Definitely take a look at some spoiler-free videos to get a better idea of what to expect here.

absolutely not, this can be far easier than sekiro due to summons, spirit ashes and a host of the old dark souls mechanics that can be abused for certain bosses and fights.

Sekiros difficulty is unmatched in my opinion, it'd be closer to a hardcore rhythm game or something, whilst this is more the usual/typical/generic boss fight and combat mechanics where you're looking for openings and then dodging the rest

I've never played Sekiro, but I can say it's harder than my dingdong at the AVN awards. God I love saline bags!

its the most accesible Souls game, and one of the easiest actually, so far atleast, in the base game, there are only a very few actually hard bosses in the entire game
