Elden Ring keeps crashing, any recommendations?
Hello fellow tarnisheds,

As the title suggest, the game crashes a lot. I've tried the basics, ie: updating graphical driver, verify integrity of game files, reinstalling... but that didn't help it. The game just freezes and crashes constantly. Sometimes it can go a long way without it happening, sometimes it help every 10 minutes (I think it depends on where I am in the game).

And it seems to be getting worse. I've reinstalled the game after a good while without playing it and after 30 minutes it crashed for the first time. Then it crashes and crashes often.

I was wondering if anyone with similar issues have a solution, or something that can help.

My specs:

Ryzen 5 5600X 3.70Ghz
16gb
GTX 1070

Gratitude.

Verify game files > reboot > verify again.

Does the crash restart your whole PC? Had a friend experience crashing on Elden Ring and it would sometimes restart his PC. Ended up updating his BIOS and its been good since

I have a first gen i7 with 16 gigs of ram and a 1070 and my game rarely crashes. I can only run it at 1080P due to my monitor. Are you sure it's not something in your settings? Lower the resolution or some of the AA?

Is it just a CTD or is it crashing your pc right into a brick wall?

I was playing normally 2 days ago and it crashed after that and dozens of fixes nothing seemed to work.

Yeah me2. The game works fine but in only one area the game crashes consistently. Always same area and the game crashes after several seconds. And i got that issue since release and they are not able to fix it.

first of all during crashes of this game:

1. check if windows files got damaged in some ways:
to repair them you have to open CMD as administrator and run this command
sfc /scannow

2.check if game files got damaged in some ways:
to repair them there are two options:

2.1. verify the game files:
open steam library, click with the right mouse button on the entry of elden ring
click on properties
there you find on the left side the entry local files, click it
now there is a option to verify game files
after the verify is done, restart your computer and verify the game files again

2.2. if this is to complicated for you or the verify does not solve the problem:
deinstall the game
delete the game folder
reinstall the game

3. if 1. and 2. does not solve the problem check windows event viewer what is causing the problem and post the log here if you can not read it.

I believe the problem actually lies within the graphics settings and the interplay those settings have with current GPU drivers. I wasn't able to nail down exactly which graphical setting stopped the described issues above for me, but it was either lighting/global illumination quality, or SSAO.
