Night Maiden's Mist Destroys FPS
I have a 3090 and i9-11900k and every time I use Night Maiden's Mist I lose a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of frames. Please tell me they're going to fix this. I see other people complaining about this as well.

lol that's nothing.

Wait till you get to the firework-shooting walking mausoleum in the Consecrated Snowfield. It'll make you regret every single penny that 3090 was scalped for.

Does seem that the 3 series cards have more issues than most

The 3000 series is fine. It's just good ol' poor optimization.

Night Maiden's Mist and that one walking mausoleum (as well as some other spell effects) really choke out CPUs and system bandwidth. AMD, nVidia, whichever generation you pick including the 4090 will drop frames due to the bottleneck elsewhere.

More threads about issues in game than most and its always owners of the 3 series cards. Mine is poor i have a GTX 1650 i get 30 to 40 Fps followed all the optimisation vids and i dont get these issues

3000 series was the hot thing to have and a lot of folks paid scalper prices to get one. Coming across a game like ER that doesn't appear to be very technically demanding will definitely upset those folks.

In the case of your 1650, your GPU is very likely the bottleneck on your PC. Upgrade to something like a 1660 Super (or better) and you'll get a pretty solid 60fps... until you encounter Night Maiden's Mist, that walking mausoleum, dragon fire and magic breath, etc. You just can't win with this game.

sadly i cant upgrade its a laptop one day i may get another rig but for now i cope

Yeah, it's no big deal, imo. I've never considered dropping several hundred (or thousand) bucks on one component just to play games a little better to be a wise decision. While some may point to something like Cyberpunk, sure, buy a 4090 and play it at 4K 120fps. But then what? If nothing else in your game library is that demanding, then why did you buy it? Games like this are produced to sell PC hardware. It's Crysis all over again.

I moved countries 2 years ago and this rig was best i could get at that time, sometimes its hard with a language barrier. At that point it was for DS3 mainly no sign of ER at that time. I play and get good results anyway so its all good for me

You're way off in your thinking of the situation.. Both games are on consoles, so neither game was made to sell hardware. You can play Cyberpunk at 4k 60fps with a 3080ti and decent CPU. Just because you don't have the bucks or choose not to drop the bucks, doesn't mean it's not wise for someone else to pay for the component.

Crysis wasn't a bad game, and you could play it and it'd look beautiful. They just added a bunch of crazy settings to make it hardcore. You have to understand, that some settings are too crazy for the best tech, doesn't mean you rig sucks.

It's the Blighttown of Elden Ring concentrated into one small area. Never forget 15 fps Blighttown. :cuphead:

Did you have unlocked FPS? I don't have FPS drops, the GPU gets hotter instead.
It's happening since day 1, so I find it's a low priority issue for them.

OP didnt answered but.....thats a special sorcery. For unknow reasons if you touch your own mist (it will kill you) the controllers with vibration just go insane, i mean earthquake like. Nothing else in the game makes my XBOX controller vibrate like maiden mist....so would be nice if the OP mentions if he is using that kind of controller.

Bottlenecking as somebody mentioned. Please look up what it is and how it works - basically, 3000 series owners complain more because they also don't know what bottlenecking is and think that spending more = guarantees better frames, then ignores people explaining that the GPU isn't the only piece of hardware in the computer
