Play it more and you will get your main question answered.
Happy Birthday.
You don't agree? A huge, open world with repetitive activities scattered all over the map to try and keep you busy with filler content, bosses that continuously re-appear throughout the course of the game... An abundancy of re-used assets of previous games... Have you given it a little more thought?
Yeah had more than enough time to think about it during my 1400 hours. And i continue playing it because i enjoy it (game collector here....have a lot of more things to play).
Im sorry but 6 hours are not enough to have a solid opinion, you barely scratched the game surface and your comments seem something you saw in reddit or negative reviews. Play the game and judge it again once you have more real experience.
I would argue these games share very little outside of a large open map.
Id like you to tell us about which content was the most reused content youve found during your six hours played.
Not my intention here to bash on the game you love. I'm just saying I was expecting something that would "WOW" me but so far it's been FINE.
I don't think the game is trash, or that it's bad, I just don't think it's all that much revolutionary or I don't get the hype.
Agreed people are misusing the world revolutionary.
Don't copy paste what other people said because with 6 hours you don't know anything about the game.
Next.
No problem at all my man. Im just blunt not a cretin! We are having a good conversation here and you are not a troll of course.
You will probably get the "hype" after playing it a bit more. Or hey....some people dislike it even after 100 hours, for real so to each his own but for now you just cant know if Elden Ring is for you or not. Cant refund it anyways! So give it a go with an open mind and without prejudices.
for me is
1) open world soullike game and not just hard soul game not open world
2) epic main/optional/mini bosses - I know some of the mini bosses and the small optional ones if you try to see every inch of the map is used couple of times and in different colors but overall it have many unique bosses main/optional/mini with many unique and new design then Im not familier in other open world games that have so many ( most of the open world games the bosses are human and not as much new and unique and epic )
3) game have really big unique bosses like radahn, snack boss and dragon with 2 heads and more that should be considered main bosses but the developers created them optional content not required for finishing the game which normal open world games wouldn't do that making many big optional bosses that are pretty much main bosses optional
4) game look good even though it's a bit the same with the tree and the color changing but overall not many games have big open world kinda in dark mode like this more of the games like witcher 3 and gta 5 more brighten and happier and this is kinda unique
this is my main points I like about this game that other games might not have as much ( probably more if I try dig into it )
The game tries to make the players brain work, things most gamers arent used to.
There isnt a cutscene which goes on for 20 mins, where many people tell you this and that, over-explaining things what you need to do.
Example:
You stand in front of a load of explosive barrels.
In modern gaming the player character has an inner monolouge like "I should try to avoid these barrels" or "I could try to lure the enemy to it".
In Elden Ring there is no such thing, if you dont recognize them as explosive then you simply dont know. No suggestions whatsoever.
Or another prime example of players brains not working properly because they are used to AAA gaming standard:
There is this Ring in the game:

Plays complained about it being "bugged" and "not working". They opened so many threads, it was unbearable.
But if you read the description carefully, which most of these "gamers" didnt do, it states explicit that it negates any fall damage but doesnt prevent lethal falls, e.g. falls that would kill you instantly.
Making the brains work is a good way to keep players engaged in a game.
And if you combine it with the really good gameplay it has, its more satisfying.
Hope it cleared some things for you.
Now, after a while I did re install the game and gonna play it again in NG+ with that friend, doing a complete run the two of us, but this time I will go with the mindset that the game is just a fun good game, nothing exceptional nor the magnum opus or the game of the decade, and so far the little I have test it again I'm enjoying it much more than before (Thanks to my new rig of course, a lot of the technical problems have gone with this and the patchs of course) So, my advise, go with a mindset that this is a good game, a great one even, but don't look for it's next step sh1t and that kind of stuffs, or you maybe not enjoy your time with it.
I understand how people struggle to get into it. I had DS, DS1, DS2 and DS3 for years and struggled to get into them. I gave up without playing much of any of them.
Then I watched how others were playing them on YT and played and managed to finish DS3. Then the rest one by one, including similar games like Nioh 1 and 2. To the point I could do it without having to watch anyone or look for a build guide.
I know people say 'git gud'. But they were right. And I wish I'd persevered and got better at the games sooner. I was the same, I maybe played them 6 hours or so and couldn't get why others enjoyed them so much.
Now I get it and these type of games are amazing and the rest pales by comparison.
All I can say is watch some fighting cowboy videos and others like GheyForGames and practice.
It's fine, if not good, but it stumbles way too much for all the hype people give it, enemy design jackknives between solid and "Who in God's name OK'd the Rune Bear?!" with bosses that just don't feel like they were designed to be fought with the Souls games traditional slower speed.
There's just too many cracks for me to call it anything more than "good" personally.
