Weird we did not get an ending based on collecting all great runes

Of all the endings I've heard about, all seem to be based on the side quests (Ranni, Gold Mask, Dung Eater, etc) but you think there would be one based on collecting all the great runes to reforged the Elden Ring or at least, add something to the others (like a small bit of dialog or cut scene)

True, plus only one is hard to get in the end (a certain woman with two phases and heals when she attacks) the others are easier. Though got Godrick's was pain in the butt...back when I had no real gear and no clue on how to play, lol!

Okay, probably still not a great player, since I rely on my overly high level (current is 241), mimic and blasphemous blade to just power through bosses.

I think based on how recycled the mending-rune endings are animation wise, adding achievements for them may have annoyed players even more than they already were. In saying that, the actual journeys to collect those mending-runes are fun content, especially Age of Duskborn, so maybe the achievements would have encouraged players to try them.

EDIT: I misread the thread question, my bad. I think others below have made some good points that I mostly agree with.

I agree, it would be kind of neat to have an ending you get from collecting all the runes, but as it stands, for lore reasons it's not possible. At least as I understand it, the Great Runes are all 'shards' of the Elden ring, but those we can find are not all Shards there is - at least, Ranni's rune has been cast away by her and is out pf the player's reach and there may be other 'undisclosed' Shards we have no information on as well. Hence why no matter how many Great Runes we recover during the course of the game, we can only get the Fracture, AKA, Incomplete Elden Ring Ending by default. The Mending Runes we can find each in their own way supposedly 'fixes' the incompleteness of the fractured Elden Ring though, each in their own ways...

its pretty simple:

even if you collect all great runes that you can collect, you wouldnt have all great runes that exist in elden rings world.

rannis great rune - which is probably with melina
miquellas great rune - which is probably hidden in the haligtree

those 2 cant be collected.

Plus the ones Vyke had possible. Unless one of the demi gods or Omen got them one he was locked away in that jail. Think even that warmaster who was an Volcano Manor might have at least one at one point, since some think he reached the forge of the giants as well, before turning against the Two Fingers.
