Hope they nerf all thrusting weapons in next patch
becuz now every single person is spamming them becuz they were the only thing that wasnt nerfed theres no counter to thrust spam just like they nerfed UGS crouch spam next thing they should do is nerf thrusting weapons and make it that you cant apply royal knight ashes of war on it

Thrust spam counter: dont spam dodge and attack only when possible
They dont need a nerf, ive never had an issue fighting thrusting swords at all. the crouch poke needed a nerf because it was way to fast for the weapon type. And royal knight is fine to have for it, since it can be applied to alot of melee weapons. Pierce attacks are generally easier to parry then other types of attacks especially charges.
Ironic though when thrusting is the meta bows and crossbows are still meh. They’re not bad but could be ssssssoooooo much better.
Royal Knight's Resolve counter: Run away for 8 seconds, then try to hit them before they reapply. Repeat.

Coincidentally, this is also the endure counter.
Oh, so every invader I encountered using solely thrust weapons wasn't a coincidence.

I think most thrust weapons like spears and rapiers just need less tracking than they currently have. Traditionally in previous souls games, thrust attacks are supposed to be easily strafeable in exchange for their fast speed and range. Tracking appears to be have been improved in ER, but this seems to have made thrust attacks less strafeable. Lag can also affect this.

This is also why invaders probably tend to go for thurst weapons. Their fast attacks and range leave fewer openings which is invaluable to avoid being blendered by ganks.
wow really? people spam the new strong thing after the old strong thing got nerfed?

Please do tell me what you think will happen after the new strong thing gets nerfed. It doesn't take a NASA scientist to figure out.

Nothing more disappointing than trying the estoc in for the first time in DS3
If they do nerf them, you know what will happen? People will find the next strongest/easiest to win with weapon or ability and just use that untill that's nerfed.

Do you see the pattern here, it hasn't changed in 4 games now. Enjoy Fromsoft PVP.

If people put more effort into re-jigging their build and researching defence mechanisms than whining for From to 'fix' things for them then they'd be back on an even PvP-footing quicker.

sick counter if you gonna attack them the moment they attack you then you will die becuz they get increrased damage from counter attacks theres no counter to them all you do is spam roll but if you are good at spamming thristing attack they can time it with your rolling its just not a fun thing to fight against everything else so far in pvp is at decent spot except this

Running away is -sort of- a counter, though the fight does end up becoming much longer as a result. It tends to make fights entirely based around those (mainly Endure) a bit boring.

RKR sometimes gets removed on a missed swing that someone rolled through though, so there is that.

Estoc and all other rapiers in Ds3 are actually pretty good. Not as overpowered as they are in ER or Ds2, but they have benefits. They have some weird interaction with backstabs in 3 that allows you to land them easier compared to other weapons.
OP - did you even try using a better shield before posting here?
Or how about getting good with Parry/Riposte? Worked in every other game fine.

Or - go high defense and Iron Jar once you see the dual piercing weapons and just clip them through their first attack. If your going to trade blows, might as well make sure you don't get stunned and killed first lol.

Don't like those because your magic? Got plenty of spells to hit them at range that are decent to good. Hell, maybe confuse them and put the Gravitus Ash on a big weapon and use the art to stun/pull them in and smack them first.

Many answers beyond just waiting for them to whiff attacks for you to counter attack.
