Hardware malfunction
So I just bought this game a few hours ago, and 2 hours into it my microphone kept disconnecting. Next thing I know this pop up keeps appearing saying that there is a "Power Surge on the USB port." I asked a few friends and one said that others have this problem with this game. Anyone else?

Sorry not seen any threads on these issues. Maybe say your PC specs to help those who have greater knowledge of PC workings

interesting problem, mostly the message "Power Surge on the USB port." means there is a short circuit at the port but as you said it only happens during play elden ring points to a driver problem, so look if your USB dongle has any new drivers available first. The problem sounds like the game false identify your USB dongle as a controller and try to connect to it, what can also cause a error in the electronic of the dongle.

into what, USB or Mic input ?
If into mic input something cause a bad grounding, it can be anything and professional messuretools are required to find the cause.

Forgot to say that other devices when connected into the same port that my mic was connected into work perfectly fine, but when mic is connected in any other port it will not work. I have tried connecting it in all ports on motherboard and pc case. My pc will also not turn on when my mic is connected so I have to disconnect it before turning it on.

To be honest idk what you mean by this, and I don't exactly know the type of cable my mic uses but the part that connects to pc is usb.

as i said there is something causing a bad grounding (it seams to be your mic, with a broken cable that put power to ground) it can also functioning as inductor for a other grounding problem at the Rig itself but without professional messurement tools there is no way to identify the problem, if you have a other microphone test if it is causing the same problem, if not you have a damaged microphone.

at USB there are different defects in the USB adapter of your mic that can cause this, and now you say your PC will not start if the microphone is connected so it is defect and causing a short and has nothing to do with elden ring.

go buy a new one.

I only thought it was since it only started happening in the middle of me playing, sorry. I don't have another mic besides my headset one. I've had this mic that is now broken for over a year now and I have never had any problems with it. But thank you for help I have a bit more of an understanding over this now.

people do have problems with the game on PC but it tends to be thing like framerate issues, stutters, crashes, or poor connectivity in pvp/co-op. this does not sound like a normal "ER on PC" problem to me and is likely an issue with your PC/hardware itself, or is a software issue with your drivers or something like that.

electrical devices can get broken without a damage you can see, it is even possible your USB port at the microphone is broken and is now causing a short circuit, in the moment you said your PC will not start if it is connected to your PC, it is clear that it cause a short circuit and the PSU seams to be good, so it does not power on with it.

the PC does not power on if the mic is connected it is clearly a short circuit caused by the microphone
