Elden Ring Bosses are Awful
Elden Ring Bosses are Awful

Before going any further, I need to clarify something. No, I did NOT use ROB, Moonveil, Bloodhound step or Spirit Summons on my playthrough. I avoided using them when people showed how OP it was on youtube.

I used Bloodhound's FANG Curved greatsword on a Quality Build. No magic, no arcane, just pure Solo Melee combat. Because I firmly believe that is how souls game are meant to be played

I completed every area of the game, beat every single boss, including all the Dungeons.

The Bossfights are awful. Most are copy-paste bossfights that feel no more meaningful than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dungeon you find them in.

And the few unique bossfights feel incredibly cheap, unfair and unsatisfying, especially near the endgame. Don't get me wrong, They're beautiful and a hell of a spectacle to witness.

I'm no stranger to Hard Boss fights. I have beaten every Fromsoftware game all by myself, from start to finish. No Help. That's how I play and that's how these games are meant to be played imo. I've Beaten Dark Souls 3 with Ascended Mod(Try it yourself. Its great and absolutely worth it). I've beaten Sekiro without Kuro's charm and Demon bell combined. I am not trying to brag but just trying to let you know that I am no noob at Souls games

With that said, I think Elden Ring Late game bosses are ridiculously hard in all the WRONG WAYS. When I got my a** kicked in other games, It usually felt fair because I knew it was my fault. Every attack was dodgeable or had a viable counter. Every combo left enough opportunity to counterattack. Even the fastest bosses like Orphan of Kos, Slave Knight Gael, Sister Friede, Isshin and Father Owl had generous windows of opportunity for counterattacks. Your reward perfectly dodging Sister Friede's combo was a nice backstab. But screw it up and its right back to the bonfire. Tough. But fair.

It was simply a matter of learning the boss moves and adapting your strategy accordingly. I.e. It was all about Getting Gud.

Not the same here in Elden Ring. Best example of this would Malenia. Its not just that her Attacks are incredibly difficult to dodge. Its that after perfectly dodging a waterfowl or the Death Angel attack, you get absolutely NOTHING! No opportunity for counterattack. She just goes into another combo. It turns the entire bossfight into a waiting game. Waiting for the boss to do that one or two attacks I can punish.

Not to mention, the ridiculous number of AOE attacks every boss has that do insane damaged and are designed to punish players for coming in close for a counterattack.

Malenia, bit©h of Miquella, Ped@phile Mohg, Sumo Wrestler Hoarah Loux, Big Dog Malekith, and not to mention, the Final Boss, The Golden Space Squid.

They all have AOE attacks that do insane damage, often stun you and get you comboed to death. They are designed to force the player to run away and keep a safe distance.

I'm not saying they are impossible to dodge. They're not. They can be dodged, but dodging the safely often requires very specific input and timing and the player often doesn't get any opportunities to counterattack.

All of this makes Elden Ring Late game bosses extremely tedious and frustrating, atleast of Solo Melee players.
When I beat Malenia, there was no satisfaction, no boss euphoria that I got in previous entries. I was just relieved for it to be finally over. I didn't feel like I earned that victory. I felt like I got lucky because she used the waterfowl only once in the second phase.

Elden Ring bosses don't provide the same level of Boss Euphoria as previous entries. They do not feel like fair fights because....they just aren't. They are extremely hard on melee players, especially strength players and extremely easy on Mage builds and Spirit Summoners.

For Mage builds or Spirit summoners, its a cakewalk because Fromsoft boss ai still does not know how to deal with ranged attacks or multiple enemies.

Oh, how sad, another purist tried to play his own inner version of "real Souls" (read in "movie voice") and then didn't have a good time (for 100+ hours on purpose, probably getting ever more bitter) and continues to push out his hot take judgements on the forum.

All good and valid points.

I think Fromsoft is in a difficult situation. On one hand they want to give the best of the best players worthy bossfights but on the other hand this then becomes way too hard to the average player.

This is probably why they came up with spirit summons as a bandaid I think this whole "crank-up-the difficulty-because-more difficult-is-always-bette mantra" needs to stop at some point, because all they can do to make it even more difficult now is adding more bs bosses on cocaine who do nothing else than bombording you with all kinds of this bs AOE crap.

You sound way more bitter tbh. He just posted his opinion, nothing wrong with that.

If it offends you so much, why bother commenting?

I'm not bitter, maybe a bit tired of these nonsensical rants (and yes, it seems we disagree here), and I just posted my opinion, nothing wrong with that either :)

I agree look at how Code Vein was when they release new DLCS for it

Man I do hope they give us DLC bosses as awesome as Gael, Lady Maria, Sister Friede, Artorias, Isshin etc. Unfortunately I don't think they will do that. People have been complaining about Late Game bosses and their ridiculous moveset for months.

And who does From nerf? Radahn of course! The One Guy who was actually fair and a hell of a boss. Meanwhile Malenia still has her waterfowl.

If I am proven wrong and the DLC bosses turn out to be as great as previous iterations, I will gladly take the L.

Ok, here goes:

No, I did NOT use ROB, Moonveil, Bloodhound step or Spirit Summons on my playthrough. I avoided using them when people showed how OP it was on youtube.

So, this is clearly a "you" problem.

The game and most folks don't give a damn about your personal idea of how the game must be played. The game does not have to conform to this idea, and any analysis of bosses or whatever based on this is utterly subjective and meaningless.

Also there never was this "how souls game are meant to be played" - never existed - this only lives in your and some other ppl's heads.

Essentially you are doing you own specific challenge mode and then complain about how unfair it was.

Nah it's you dude you who started this lol

I didn't post this thread. Apparently a thread ranting about the game is fine, but writing one ranty sentence about such a thread is not?

I agree they are not as good as ds3 bosses for me but I still like them way more than the boredom of ds1 and ds2 bosses.
