Disk write error
My game seems to be completely broken, there's an update queued up but it doesn't start because there's a disk write error, I can't uninstall it for the same reason, I straight-up deleted it from my steam folder and it's still stuck, before that I tried veryifing the integrity of game files but the thing was stuck at 0%. Even now the update is queued but it's still stuck, any ideas?

Sounds like bad sectors. Is the folder still there after you deleted it?

Your hard disk is about to die, time to back up what you can.

The thing is Elden Ring is the only game that's giving me this problem, every other game in my library behaves as it should

The thing is...
Have you tried uninstalling / deleting ER and then installing another game instead?
Just asking to rule out HD failure, your 'other games behave like they should' doesn't help when it's a block on the drive ER tries to copy to, since you don't say what specifically you mean.

And then, I've had this issue before in another game and it wasn't a HD problem, but for the life of me can't remember what the issue was and how to solve it, sorry.

Edit:

Good luck.

Okay so I tried the first thing in your comment and opened the steam library, and it showed Elden Ring, despite me having deleted the entire folder
So I tried uninstalling it from there, rather than my actual library, and it somehow worked? for some obscure reason. Now I'm reinstalling the game and it's not giving me any trouble so idk what that was all about but thanks for the help!

Check your drive. Open cmd and use this command chkdsk x: /x /r where x az x: has to be exchanged by the drive letter the game is installed. It will tell you to restart your Computer for the scan.

Yeah, something got stuck with Steam, and deleting the cache wasn't enough - like I said it can happen, and I was certain the 'solution' was something rather silly and easy, only you need to get there first.

Anyway, and for whatever reason, glad it worked out.
