What casual would have thought to use a medium shield with a parrying ash!

1.) the easiest 2 attacks to parry are slide to left and slight to right followed by single attacks
These have medium timings and can easily be parried
2.) there are 2 diagonal slashes from stand still
one can be easily parried with quick timing since it has a bit of wind up
one is a rapid slash and almost impossible to parry since you need to press the parry button so damn early that you basically guess for the attack to happen.
3.) there is a long charge attack from distance where she drags herself above the ground for 20m towards you
you can parry this when she did 2/3 of the way.
It makes no f... sense but it works....
4.) you can parry the jump stab/charge attack where she goes into the air from close distance if you parry early.
It can only be parried from close distance and not from far distance which again makes no sense >-<
5.) she has 360c Spins followed by sword hit that can be parried late.
you basically have to wait till she spins around you and when the sword almost hits you you can parry.
6.) The rapid 3+1 slashes can be parried with medium timing.
but you have to be kinda close to be able to parry the 1st one !
you can always parry the 2nd one though since you are automatically in the correct distance.
So whats the problem ?`
1. The fast variation of 2.)
this very rapid diagonal slash is sooo hard to parry
2. There are many non parryable attacks like kicks and combos etc... mixed inbetween
so you have to dodgeroll some attacks anyways.
3.) as you can see you need to memorize timing for different attacks since you cant rely on logical visual feedback
Some attacks have to be parried mega earlly , some late , some medium and this is quite hard to get into correct muscle memory
4.) parrying her means you will get 0-3 close range waterfowls
hardest attack from her to deal with.
So overall you have to be very aware if she does an early , medium , late parry attack
or an attack that isnt parryable at all :(
and you have to deal with close range waterfowls
And what is the reward ?
you dont do damage when parrying her :(
And when you do riposte after she broke -> damage isnt too good either....
long story short:
Hard to pull off
makes the fight a lot more difficult
bad rewards
looks cool is the only pro
One of the best parry video's I've seen, thank you!
You noticed I'm a casual : ) (complete with RoB)
You're welcome.
This gave me a laugh. A whopping ten tries
Was that like, twenty minutes of practice? It's just really weird to throw in the towel because it wasn't easy.
I parry killed her because my playthrough was parry kill all bosses if possible. She was definitely the hardest to learn.
Except it took me well over ten hours mostly because of the slash you mentioned. I'd miss it often and just die and it resets the fight every time. I eventually got the timing down and learned if you space better she did the attack far less. She loves to do it if your character is literally in her face and does it much less if you leave something of a gap between you.
Phase two parrying had somewhat of an increased challenge because for me her wings make it harder to see some of her animations and then I'd miss parries there too.
(almost at the DLC, wondering if parrying is the cure for infinite combos)
Yes, I parried Midra and Rellana for that reason and they're a lot easier to beat that way.
The different timings for Med Shields, Light Shields and Parrying dagger?
