I have no way to summon Torrent
Hi there! I'm about 12 hours into the game - I just beat the Beastman of Farum Azula. I kept hearing references to "Torrent" and decided to google it. Apparently it's a spectral steed! And I should be able to summon it! Unfortunately, I don't have the whistle. It's just not in my inventory or equipment. I googled when I'm supposed to get this item, and it's at the same time I'm introduced to leveling my character.

I can level up just fine, and have had multiple conversations and cutscenes with Melina. I accepted her offer to 'be my maiden' when asked. No ring.

This has all the feelings of a bug. I know myself and how I play games real well. If the only answer is "restart" then I probably won't ever play again. Is there a cheat or a mod or a way to edit my save to give myself the Spectral Steed Whistle? Please any help would be appreciated.

Don't mod it in unless you want to get banned from multiplayer. As others have said, have you verified the game files integrity and have you checked the twin maiden husks in the round table hold? They likely wont carry it but you never know. All else fails you can restart your character, losing 12 hours of progress hurts I know, but you will get back to where you left off quickly enough. Its faster to get to a place that you've been to before than it is to wander through the first time after all.

You won't get banned from multiplayer for modding if you disable EAC.

Really? I could have sworn actively disabling the anti cheat system would force you into offline mode or otherwise prevent you from playing multiplayer through normal means.

It does, but assuming OP's game really is bugged, it should - and I cannot emphasize this enough, should - be safe to do that, use a mod to add the item to their inventory, save, quit, remove the mod, then launch with EAC enabled.

Ah well I can't speak from experience but what you say sounds like good advice. +1

He'll get banned, you assume ER relies solely on EAC for bans.

All FromSoftware games have server side checks, and transferring items to your character will get you banned.

Don't think just cause you cheat in OFFLINE mode, FromSoftware won't check your save when you go back online.

And when you go back online, what will they see? A save with the Spectral Whistle, just as it should be.

Unfortunately for you, it ain't that simple, but is not me who is getting banned anyway.

They'll see he has a Spectral Whistle without triggering it from Milena, is the same as having Dark Moon Ring without progressing Ranni quest.

People get banned just for carrying bells they shouldn't have yet, and you wanna argue he won't get banned over a key item (which are the easiest to detect foul play) :winter2019joyfultearsyul:

Even if in theory you right , just to be sure , dont add anything illegitimate on your game if you are planning to play online.

Atleast , that is what i would do if i was you.

It's a key item that will get him flagged for ban extremely easily.
Thing is, OP already triggered the event (hence why OP is able to level up). The ring just didn't make it into their inventory, supposedly. The event flag should reflect that the event occurred, even if the item isn't in OP's inventory.

The whistle is legit, it's an item everyone is supposed to have.

However, I freely admitted this is all speculative on my part right when I said it.

OP clearly did not trigger the event, being able to level and not having the steed is a huge red flag, it's a key item you can't get rid off.

I been playing since day one, and only once I didn't had torrent, cause I didn't rest at bonfire up until Godrick (yes, I couldn't level either).

You can't have one without the other, and never seen this bug in any of my characters nor reports from others yet.

So first thing that comes to mind, he is using MODs already.

The "Illegitimate" part would be to add an item that is not the same he would receive normally (dont know how it works) they can fllag you for rune tempering , weapon tempering even when you can have thoses runes/weapon in legit way from your own game when they come from a cheating way.

Not sure how the mod adding thoses items will let the game flag thoses items too , so this is all spec too ^^

I'm pretty sure he's trolling guys; 12 hours in, without Torrent yet he somehow got to Farum Azula and kill Maliketh there? I think the only way to manage that is to use speed-running glitches to teleport yourself up there; and if the guy understands how to use them he's clearly a veteran player; he will know all about Torrent and have used him.

"Beastman of Farum Azula" is a boss in a cave on the way to Gatefront Ruins from Church of Elleh. He's not talking about the zone.
