Meteorite Staff Un-upgradeable? Bug?

Does anyone else have an issue upgrading the met. staff? I am late into my first playthrough, and wanted to try the staff, but am completely unable to upgrade it. I have it in my inventory, but in the screen to choose which weapon to upgrade at the blacksmith, the staff just doesnt show up. All of my other weapons show up regularly, but the met. staff isn't an option. Is this a glitch, or is there something special about the staff that makes it un-upgradeable???

it is not upgradable.

it's the only staff with an S scaling without upgrade. (that's the why you can't upgrade it)

Nope, not a bug. It's 100% intentional.

What's special about it is that it's basically the best early game staff and I ended up using right up until I got hte Carian Regal Catalyst, because this game can be stingy with its upgrade mats until later down the line.
Oh, it also boosts gravity magic, like Rock Sling.

Yeah, that staff cannot ever be upgraded by design. It's the strongest staff lower-level, and lower-intelligence, than others. It out-performs all staves until around, like, +5 Somber/+15 Normal, and until about 30-40 int. It's essentially a 'low int caster' staff, or an early game staff. If you get up to 70 int, and a fully upgraded staff, you'll outperform the Meteorite Staff even with gravity spells.
