So Sounds like rights a defect rights management, you can try to repair the Windows Profile or use a new local admin.

the command to repair the profile (or trying to repair) is

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Having the same issue here, did you ever find a fix for it?

same issue here, i did also install sniper elite and was given the same error on there then went to launch this and same issue, it was working fine before the patch, has anybody found a fix?

Does that other game also use EAC by chance?

would test this

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

and also check for running some suspicious background software.

there where some windows security updates last week, some background software could have interupted them so i would also try to restore windows to a state before the update, end all background programms and run the updates again.

Sniper Elite does! I also tried to install that last week and the easy anti cheat didn't work so i uninstalled it. Now Elden Ring's EAC says insufficient privileges. Do you think that could be causing it?

normally not, every game has it's own EAC settings. You might have a defective windows user profile and the installation of sniper elite finally killed your EAC registry entries.

I would check if a new local admin is able to start the games.

if he has not this problem there can be a background app that cause rights management errors or your windows profile is defect if the dism command does not repair the profile you have to switch to a new one.

i'm not sure if sniper elite bugged everything, i have tried the steps listed by @dark-breed, i have also ended several tasks to no avail, i completely removed all of sniper elites game files, that game was just too glitchy and would not start, it would tell me i could not install it on anything other than my c drive. never had this issue, i uninstalled and re installed elden ring and still won't launch. i hope this gets patched out in the future or someone finds a fix because looks like im sol.

when i would try and launch sniper elite on game pass app it would give me the same error "insufficient privileges" but its odd, other games that use EAC such as gears 5, master chief collection, and others still load just fine, i believe that update 1.05 messed some things up for some of us windows 11 users.

Ok you use windows 11, the are some problems with the hardcore EAC settings of some games (elden ring for examble) if a preview update is installed, you can try to restore your system to a point before the last preview update and deactivate preview updates to prevent the installation of it.
