I've seen some of his other videos. It's fun to watch and well made overall. 76 subscribers don't do it justice.
if jumping allows you to "dodge" attacks, why wouldn't AOW that make you jump not work too?
I guess the difference is the timing, like that Storm Kick. But that's not what all the video is about. I liked the Loretta's Slash and Storm Assault to reach a jumping enemy before he attacks
i've never really used them that much if I'm gonna be honest, but recently I've been playing around at endgame bosses. giant hunt, flame of the redmanes and carian grandeur are pretty fun. Just that when it comes to bosses a lot of the slower ashes are very hard to use unfortunately(especially carian grandeur because it's so satisfying and hits like a truck)
now PvP... flaming strike is fun but i mainly use it to cover weapons that kinda suck(cgs not having any HA for its speed is pretty bad, so flaming strike is a big help in making sure i don't just fold up close). Storm stomp isn't super fun for me personally but it is supremely helpful when I use paired daggers since they do 0 poise damage. nice to be able to threaten bigger, longer weapons
Now for some fun but underrated ones:
Golden Land is really solid, especially if you have ranged options. Where as Earthshaker and especially Waves of Darkness utterly dominate close range, they're totally useless outside of that. golden land offers pressure anywhere in exchange for its lower damage. Def more of a supporty type WA though, that rewards pairing it with something else
In the exact same sort of camp, Nebula. The Wing of Astel version has much less range, but since the sword has ranged attacks on the R2s it works very well as a smokescreen. Of course, other ranged options under this cover would work very well. The flail version has more range and damage, but also a big telegraphed lunge so it's give and take. Also it's a flail so it sucks to use unlike a curved sword.
Spearcall Ritual is really hard to land(wish it was faster) and you can't freeaim it, but the attack itself is really good. The weapon is a spear so you can actually use it, and the weapon art pops off if you can actually get someone in range. Tons of stagger, good damage. Best use I found was spamming it until an opponent gets annoyed and comes in, which is where the WA is at its absolute best. Get them in close range with the attack, and they either dodge it so you can counterattack(like a roll catch), or they eat it for big damage.
Lastly, warcry and its variants. Base warcry is for bigger weapons and has stupid hyper armor. Don't tell anyone I said this but warcry on a polearm is ultra nasty. Hyper armor, solid range even uncharged, and counter damage. Superb tool for trading.
Barbaric warcry is for smaller weapons since it packs good momentum uncharged. I found superb use with fists, curved swords, and even axes and hammers. The r2 has amazing hyper armor but also combos for all 3 hits for massive damage. you can set yourself up for fat damage with a rotwing insignia, but since it's spread throughout all the hits trading isn't as easy compared to regular warcry. if there's a short, smaller weapon you wanna try out just slap a barbaric warcry on it and pop off.
