ELDEN RING
not really few weapons with scaling higher than C?
I'm playing with my character who uses dual greatsword or greatsword and shield, and I had the idea to check the game wiki to see what sword could be accessible to me and maybe better than my Knight's Greatsword and my Claymore, but to my unpleasant surprise , I don't see a single greatsword scaling higher than C on the wiki... is this a joke? I haven't seen all the weapons, but so far the only weapon I've seen with S scaling is a staff :(

Ok ok both colossal weapons! But the second couns as greatsword.
As you level up weapons their scaling goes up. Not sure about the wiki tho lol.

I'm finding out about it just now, but the Wiki is completely unintelligible to me about it... for example:

if I want my weapon to be STR B and DEX B, what the hell does QUA+25 mean?

Additionally, changing weapon affinity affects scaling as well.

Quality weapon affinity upgraded to +25.

weapons get better scaling when you apply an affinity to them, and when you strengthen them with smithing stones. I am sure though, that very few weapons have S scaling even at +25 upgrade.

QUA+25 means a max upgraded Quality weapon. Quality weapons scale equally with Str and Dex. It's a term from Demon's Souls that has been carried forward throughout different games.
When you choose an ash of war for a weapon, you can change its "affinity" which alters the scaling and can add different damage types or status effects. What you're seeing in the top row of the wiki table is the standard affinity, which tends to be weak.

Change it to heavy and you'll get better strength scaling, keen gives better dexterity, and quality is a balance between both.
damn i have the whole game ignoring ashes of war because i thought this just added extra skills to weapons (skills i don't usually use)...unfortunately i don't have any ashes of war that upgrade my weapons in any seemingly convenient way , since I have one that could upgrade my swords from D to C, but the base damage is reduced, and in the end it seems that it is not the most convenient, since my extra scaling damage is less than the base damage lost, although my weapons are just +6 and +7
Generally the way it works is that the base damage is reduced, but scaling makes up for it later when the weapon is upgraded and your stats are higher - so you need to stick to affinities that match the chosen scaling stats of your character. Right now, the weapon upgrade level and probably your character level are too low to make much of a difference.

There are special items called "whetblades" throughout the game that will give you some freedom in choosing a variety of possible affinities for each ash of war (elemental ashes can be given physical scaling, and vice versa) - there is also one which unlocks all of the different physical affinities, so a 'keen' ash can be given heavy scaling etc.

please note that some weapons scaling is bad yet their base dmg is enough to make up for it. so some weapons can be have worse scaling like being a or b yet still do more dmg then higher scaling weapon because their base dmg is high.
Ruin's Greatsword is a S and a awesome sword!
