Seamless COOP mod has ruined Eldin ring multiplayer

Started a new character to do another run of the game after not playing it ever since the dark souls 3 servers came back on, and I’m shocked at how empty and dead this game seems now (even with healthy steam player numbers)

No summon signs practically anywhere, I may have seen 4 total signs available in 4 ish hours of play, not to mention the 3-5 minute matching times for a single invasion.

I totally understand the appeal of the coop mod as it eliminates the summon system alot of players find annoying but the trade off being basically no player activity in the vanilla game seems terrible.

I was expecting to come back to Eldin ring and see double or even triple the amount of summon signs as dark souls 3 with being such an old game but it’s literally the total opposite.

I believe this all stems from the decision of making invasions only target 2+ players (old news) and the lower cap on how many phantoms can be in one world at once, also the lack of covanents to add rewards to PVP for players. The New Seamless Coop mod is just the final nail in the coffin it seems.

Maybe I am the outlier in thinking this is going to be a negative to the overall game, if so I’m curious to hear your take on it.

To any players who are just totally put off by the PVP aspect I highly recommend you Give it a try, the invasion system that the souls games (and ER) has is one of a kind.

(PS if you are one of the ppl who invades into level 15 player worlds with twink’d out high level gear and armor just to stomp new players YOU are a major part of the problem pushing players away from this side of the game)



Edit - Even looking at the major Eldin Ring discords or LFG groups will reinforce this, i"d say 50% at least of the players active in the LFG discord channels are all using the Mod.

Yup im playing a friendly coop PVE game named Elden Ring, with around 104 bosses (counting the repeated ones)....duh.

How many people from the forums or randoms you helped killing Malenia or Radagon?
0? Oh well....This is a PVE game, PVP just a secondary feature for whoever wants to do it and seriously i hope you enjoy killing your little friends but away from me and everyone else giving two rats behinds about it.

Well, I think it's the problem of Elden Ring's Coop System. DS3 is doing better because DS3 does not need such mode, linear level with small game map is the reason. Elden Ring's Coop System definitely needs improvement, it bans players' horses in a open world game, enter a dungeon requires disconnection and re-connection, all of these are serious problems. It will be better if FromSoftware can learn something from GTA5 and Red Dead 2's multiplayer system (learn the system, but not the attitude on anti-cheat)

I just started using the mod a couple days ago but I can't help but feel like there aren't many people that are actually modding. FromSoftware games just have the tendency of less summons signs over time. But I wouldn't say that's the case with Elden Ring yet, it's only in it's first year and the numbers are still healthy. It could be that most signs appear towards the end of the game at this point since most of the player base bought the game within a month or two or release

But if you're struggling to find coop or pvp then it might be worth while to check out the Elden Ring discord or even the discussions around here. I still see plenty of people asking for coop over in the discord. As for pvp, I'm sure that there's a mutually agreed upon arena like DS3's Pontiff balcony. I'm just not sure what it would be for Elden Ring. But I remember finding a lot of success in Limgrave after starting NG+

It's embarrassing for anyone who unironically thinks that the co-op mod is what's killing Elden Ring's multiplayer, rather than EAC causing connection issues, the twinks intentionally targeting low-level areas in the early days of the game, or the many multitude of other mods that provide a fresh gameplay experience that the base game simply cannot provide (Randomizers, Overhauls, etc, etc).
