Texture and HDX and Safe Mods??
Hello all, I just wanted to be sure if I install mods that changes the appearance or textures within the game does this count as the game being modded. e.g. changing torrents fur colour, gold armour to silver, or HDX graphics for the World.

Do these changes effect the files that flag up as a modded version and revert me to offline mode. I don't want to cheat just want nicer textures.

If so does anyone know which type of Mods are safe to use?

Please let me know, if anyone has done so and know its safe.

As someone who wanted to turn Irithyll's night sky purple in DS3 and paid the hefty price, I'd advice against any form of modding of the game files.

Wow, Oki...thanks for the advice.

I had a 4K mod installed for DS1 Remastered which was fine, as No actuall game files were added or changed. Considering how Elden Ring recognises Mods and automatically puts you in offline mode.

I'm already running it on Max Graphics but just feel it can offer more, and since I am technically not changing the game files, just a texture of existing files would it flag up?

This is tricky :(

https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/9 - Example, would this be safe to install?

That's why I am curious, only being a texture file, would that flag up.

Let's say I use Ranni witches outfit as example. In my Game it will appear black, and if you'd invade me you would still see the white one, nobody would know. I'm not even removing or adding anything.

Or possibly something as simple as the title screen or controller prompts to PS4.
Nothing has changed in the core files, would that still flag.

Anyone who has tested this and knows its safe must be out there ^_^

EAC does detect when files are altered , yes.

It is not safe, it will be seen and flagged and you will not be able to play without disabling EAC first. After that, you can possibly disable the mods later and play online again but you need to be certain that the mods left no traces on your save file.

I have used a few visual mods in the past, but I never took those saves online again.

Changing game files means altering anything in the game files. Why is that so hard to understand? You're dealing with a security software program not a person. It doesn't look at a change you made to a file and say. 'Nah, that's just a horse of a different color, I'll let it go.' It looks at the game files, detects a change, banned.

EAC considers ALL mods to be cheating. If you want to mod the game and not get banned you have to play offline.

Don't really worry about the mods and getting banned too much, if I recall correctly it's only a couple months worth of only offline or if you really want to be online then you're going into a cheaters only summoning pool for the duration of the ban

Yes, this is safe to install because it is using Reshade. Reshade is whitelisted by EAC.
