i overplayed it, took a break and i never feel like coming back.
just like a lot of other people i loved this game and played it like every single free minute of my time. however i played it so much that i lost interest, many other people had this problem too and just said "come back in a month or two and you will have fun again".

however i just cant seem to find something that makes me say "thats what i wanna do and it will make a lot of fun", it just feels like a huge open world with one pain job after the next and i dont know what to do that doesnt feel like work lmao.
any ideas what i could do to find the fun again in this game?

Edit: i feel like many people dont get this, im not playing this game anymore for already 1-2 months. i do not want an alternative game cause im already doing that, i could not care less about stuff like if i got my moneys worth, im not asking here for that cause i want to write a review, all i want is to play the game again cause it made fun back in the day and looks insanely beautiful but i cant find a challange that i can think of that would make fun. and so i just asked for ideas for that. i get that you can understand it to some point wrong but a lot of you miss the point completly

Here's what you do:

Take Elden Ring to the mall and drop them off at one entrance, then you park and enter through another entrance on the other side of the mall. You walk around for a while, and at some point you'll run into them. This is where the fun starts. You pretend you've never met them before and you start hitting on them. Don't be afraid to be loud and offensive, that's where the fun is at.

You are weird. You have over 300 hours in it, maybe you've got your money's worth?
If you can't think about how to have fun in Elden Ring, that's on you. If you are burned out by it, well, just don't play it. I personally, after 3 fresh runs (2 I've finished till the end), now feel New Game+ is the best fun, because I don't feel obligated to get all the optional mini dungeons again. I just literally do whatever is fun for me, so I rush towards some Demi Gods, or do some side content I highly enjoy.
Using different weapons, spells, etc. is always an option to spice things up, and if you feel kinky, go for a challenge run.

Currently, I'm replaying DS2 Scholar, really makes you appreciate how good Elden Ring is.

Play something else instead. Like Dark souls or Nioh 2. Or games from other genres.

Go play Sekiro, the ultimate FromSoftware experience.

One thing I wish FromSoft would do is make use of the unused Colosseum-like arenas they have in northern Limgrave and northern Caelid/Dragonbarrow. After you've beaten the game (ie. after your first, original run), they could make it so that you can actually walk into either one of those structures, and then you'll be presented with some way to actually select ANY of the previous bosses you fought, and then have the secondary option to either fight them within the arena itself, OR be transported back to the area on the world's map, where you originally fought them, so you can make use of whatever field advantages were originally available (ie. cheese; camping out on a ledge, where the boss can't get to you, or where the boss can die just by falling off the map....... now THAT is always fun/funny to me!).

Yes, it is called 'Being Burnt Out'. I have nowhere near your time in the game and I was starting to feel that way, so looked at why that might be and figured out how to combat it.

Fundamentally, I set a major goal for a play session. Play to get a Boss down or play to get a specific item or play to attain an exploration goal, and so forth. But, I only do ONE of those major things in a play session.

If I still want to play some Elden Ring after the major goal is done, then I will farm some runes for a level. Practice some tactics and skills while I do it. Or farm some upgrade mats to level up an alternative weapon. Easy stuff that is not stressful in the same way a major task is stressful.

Good Hunting :)

Just play other games, you will come back to this.

Accept the fact you're burnt out and move on until you organically want to return.

You cannot force an end to burnout. All you do is just further deepen the burn. You legitimately do have to just entirely drop the game for however long it takes. Sometimes the magic never comes back; and that's okay.

Oh dang. That title describes how I feel exactly. There's a lot of annoying stuff with the performance and all that I wish would get more proper attention, but I had a great time playing this game and played the hell out of it. Even speed-running it once to catch up to a friend, playing it over again with a few more friends on a different character, and beating through the story at least 3 times on one character.

But, after being away from it for a while, I'd really just rather pick up any of the Dark Souls games and play through that them again.

You want a challenge?
Here you have one: High RL Radagon and Malenia co-op

Did you raised nearly every stat to 99 from the XP gained from those challenges and GM+ trying different specs? If the answer is no another challenge.

Did you collected some ultrare and god like weapons like the magma blades or amor sets? There you have another.

For me the only way I have continued having fun after 300+ hrs and completing NG+ is to do coop. It's some of the most fun I've had in a game.

I love seeing other people's characters and showing off mine. I love fight clubs and helping defeat tough bosses.

The game is at its peak in fun for me because I play at a really high level so there are no compromises. I can do / use whatever I like and it's great. Luckily on playstation there are plenty of others around my level (333) who are still summoning frequently. I almost never have to wait more than 5 minutes to be picked up

We pretty much said the same but you said it first so all credit goes to you!

But.......im RL 661 hahahahahahaha.....kidding(about the laugh im actually 661). Well said.

Did the same OP - ended up playing through like 2.5 times without playing anything else, and burned out (probably 5 or so months ago now).

Is how I usually play these though. On release, I play until I eventually amass like 250+ hours, and then quit until DLC. Play just the DLC, and then wait for more. Then after everything is released, I wait a month or so and give it all another full run.

Mods can also help if you haven't messed with them - but they won't help too much (nothing exactly redefining game-play like you would see in other games for obvious reasons).

I played through to the end twice. Fresh start got 3/4s through. Another fresh start got 1/2 through.
I did a full run through with Randomizer, it was a blast.
Went on to other games like Warframe and Nioh 2(currently playing).
There is no harm in taking a break from a game, especially since it isn't live service and there is no fomo. There is nothing to lose out on if you stop.

Take a step back, put it aside, play something else. Then, when/if DLC releases, go hard and have a blast!
