Need help to kill big dragon in caelid

I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be done but I just killed all the smaller dragons in that area and the big white one died too. It's like it draws health from them or something. The big one never even aggro'd while I was killing all the smaller brown ones.

My first playthrough I just cheesed the big white one by attacking it's tail but not my second play.

The smaller red eye dragons are it's children, each one killed distresses Elder dragon Greyoll more and more until she finally loses the will to live.

I know that but it's just easier to smack his leg to death

I think big dragon has a bug. I invaded in Caelid and used rot breath on him and he instantly died, while little dragons stayed. It looked like host wasn't doing anything, so I pretty much killed boss as an invader.

But does it ever get up and do anything? Or is it supposed to just lay there no matter what?

Her roar will attract and buff the little ones but that's all. She's sick in that massive patch of scarlet rot fungus, laying on her deathbed surrounded by her family.

This dragon can oneshot you even at 40 vig.... don't try unless you're an LMSH. You should go level and come back to him once stronger.

Get a bleed weapon. Go behind it to hit its tail and bleed it out. No summons required.
