Level cap for co op bosses? Help!
Does anybody know how the online summoning for bosses really works? I like to be summoned for bosses so i can help people out but after a while i noticed the summoning times get longer and longer. Is it because my level is too high or is it because people don't summoned as often anymore? Even for mandatory bosses I end up waiting half an hour to be summoned by someone.

You have to keep the matchmaking in mind (your max upgraded weapon, your rune level), at one point both those will just overshoot the average level people engage the boss, and you won't get summoned for it. (For example, trying to be summoned to Godrick at level 80)

Ok so it applies to my weapon rank too. So if i use a weaker weapon my chances of getting summoned increases? Btw i am level 170, but I know i am too high a lv for the early bosses but i am mostly helping on endgame bosses anyways but even so the wait times are still long for me.

It doesn't matter if you are using the weapon. It goes off your highest that you have

Damn so it doesn't matter then? Even if I put the weapons in storage? Kinda of a shame since doing co op on bosses is really fun. How does that apply to NG+? If I start a NG+ and start putting my summonses would i only get summoned with people also in NG+?

NG-cycle does not matter.

Level should be close enough to the host, weapon level should be close enough to the host.

Here is likely the correct info: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/t7620i/unofficial_matchmaking_information/

As Tao said the game doesn't factor in that, and having said that, at 170 you may catch people in the early areas in their NG+1 cycle, there's probably way less people doing NG+1 than those who did NG, also there's the fact that NG+1 may or may not summon anymore, since they are more experienced.

Aaah i see, wow the way co op works is waayy more complicated than I though. Again for me it's a bit wack that I would be further restricted to help people fight bosses. Fromsoft could just make it so they nerf summoners down to a similar level as the host so people wouldn't be too OP. I honestly like to beat the bosses solo and then put down a summoned to provide help for people while having the insight of having fought them already. Lowkey feels like playing Monster Hunter lmao. Anyways thanks for help guys now I know.

you could open a thread here for helping people.
if both you and the other have the same password, there is no level restriction.
you just get scaled down to the level of the host

for the record : you cannot reset your weapon upgrade level unless you use cheats. once you reach lets say +8 youre HARDLOCKED into +8 onwards. even if DISCARD that weapon your character stays flagged +8 for good. so dont even try that. only way to reset it is to make new character.

and btw spirit ashes DO COUNT for matchmaking. probaly to make legit twinking harder.

I'll be frank I doubted you, but I went and tested it myself, and it appears to be truth, quite eye opening thank you.

As others mentioned there is a password.

Also if you want to coop (or generally engage in multiplayer) - beat the game at the lowest level that you can. Just do not forget that weapon upgrade should be reasonable for the level, so having level 1 with max weapons is not useful at all.

It is a good fun and depending on how low you managed to pull it through you will have different areas with active multiplayer for you.

They do not for the moment, but I would not advise anyone to grade them above the special weapon level, as adding them to matchmaking kinda sounds reasonable and might happen (or not, but why risk it?)

i doubted it at first aswell but it makes sense. otherwise you could have oleg play the game for you at +10 while staying +1 yourself^^

i tested it myself. difference was greatly noticeable in terms of getting summoned and invasions. tested with friend aswell without password. stopped working. and only upgrade that changed was oleg from 3 to 4.
