that sword in Carian Manor is not the best Astrologer Sword. There's another that's better.
If you mean something like the Lazuli glintstone sword, as mentioned above, you get it by farming the Lazuli glintstone sorcerers, a few of which can be found at the Caria manor. The drop rate is ass though, but just keep killing them and sooner or later you'll get it. It's a decent choice.
Carian knight sword is an option, though I'd pass since the weapon art is terrible.
Sword of saint trina has intelligence scaling, though it starts at E, so I can't imagine it's ever that good for intelligence builds.
Honestly for a pure intelligence build astrologer Carian slicer will blow all that stuff out of the water in terms of effectiveness. However I do have a couple of favorites...
FIrst: the Wing of Astel. Requires 19 dex but that's fine as it gives you casting speed, which astrologers want anyways. It has a unique heavy attack for curved swords, and it's a cool one, also the ash of war completely wrecks large bosses. It might be difficult to find on your first playthrough, so you might want to look up it's location on the wiki.
Second: the Moonveil katana. Pretty much all the intelligence builds are using this thing, and for good reason. It's ash of war is very fast and effective. You get it from the Magma Wyrm boss found in Gael Tunnel - Caelid. It requires 18 dex.
Also, you don't lose anything but runes from dying. So if you did get a sword drop you should still have it in your inventory.
You lost whatever it was then. If it was a was of those lazuli sorcerers, rest easy knowing that the chances of it actually being the lazuli sword instead of some random crap, are actually pretty low. I had to kill 150 of those guys to get the lazuli sword on my first run.

My advice is to stay in the door & kill all 3 sorcerers before you try to pick it up. The bigger enemy is rather slow when he first starts moving, so you'll have plenty of time to grab the sword & teleport into saftey or run back to the lost grace :)
& i think you can still drop the sword, afterall it's not in your collection as you never picked it up.
