I think they forgot to let us use Torrent for the Elden beast fight.

Just looking at his attacks patterns, the size of his AoEs, elden stars being faster than you can run and the fact that he constantly runs away all point to this being a fight designed to be fought on foot and horseback just like fire giant. And of course now they can't fix it without being ridiculed.

Oh that I agree, thinking about now with EB almost expecting it after FG I’d already vented most of my rage for this

Guess should preface that, I solo’d that arsehole on foot in the end after raging out over his neat little avalanche attack and how torrent cant jump over it, but knowing can just block it instead

How many times are you letting him get away? he should do it a couple of times and that's 10 seconds of running.

only a couple? either you got some god tier rng or you're misremembering. I've beaten him 3 times and for me most of the fight is running.

I don't remember all of his attacks, but several of them don't seem like they were designed with Torrent in mind. Like Elden stars would be a joke to avoid on torrent, or the rings he drops. You could could probably jump over the blade beams, which would be decent gameplay tbh. The breath attacks are small though, like you're supposed to be able to avoid them on foot, so they'd be super easy to avoid with torrent.

Tbh though I wouldn't mind if you could use torrent for this fight. I don't really like the fight much anyways because you're constantly just running to get closer to him, which Torrent would really alleviate.

I think the Elden Beast was supposed to be your horse. Whilst you are fighting the erdtree. No man can hurt treebark unless he's riding an elden beast.

I finished watching Bricky's review of Elden Ring on youtube, and he mentioned the same thing, on how this fight looks like it was originally designed to be fought using Torrent, but maybe they weren't able to implement it that way, and the devs had to tone down the Elden Beast so you could fight it on foot... feels kinda bad, honestly, because it sounds like fighting Elden Beast with Torrent could have been more epic, and maybe they could have made the boss a little harder without feeling that frustrating, if you could use Torrent.

I know it's a long shot, seeing how the game already came out a while ago, but I would really like to see From Soft make it possible to use Torrent in the Elden Beast fight.

yep, spent most of the fight just trying to catch up to thwack him once or twice before he ran away again when I did it.

I do think the fight could use some adjusting. I spent way more time just running to get in range to attack than actually attacking... even when I was using a bow!. It dragged the fight out and took much of the fun away.
