Did I break Alexander's quest? (Spoilers)

Progressed thru the game on my 2nd character just beat Radahn. I made sure to use all the dialog and when I rested at the point of grace he vanished. I forgot to go back to Liurnia to free him the 2nd time.

Progressed thru volcano manor. Just beat the godskin mini boss and after went down to kill the wyrm. Remembered about Alexander and went to check and he's there but can't interact with him he just stands there.

Did I break his quest?

You have to go out and stand on the rock in the lava. Everytime it's given me an option to talk to him and he will give you a jar hat. Exhaust his talking and after that you can summon him to fight Fire Giant and then appears in Farum Azul whether he helps with Fire Giant or not. I would not have him help against the giant because if you do you can't use the horse. Fextralife has all this info I think.

Alexander's quest is one that is hard to break. I got him unstuck first time than talked to him in the Gael Tunnel (which I believe is optional) and than at Redmane Castle. I missed him on his 2nd stuck-in-ground location and than talked to him in the lava at Mt. Gelmir. He appeared in Farum Azula just fine.

I broke his quest by accidentally aggro’ ing him in Gael Tunnel. I was running for my life, almost out of HP and out of flasks, didn’t realize there was a Site of Grace so close by. In a chase, a turned to attack/stagger pursuing enemies and he was just there and got whacked, hard. He immediately started spouting off about how “This is how it is, humans can’t be trusted …” Had to kill him to defend myself.

His death dialog is pretty hilarious though. :)
