But it depends on what type of build youre going for, a quicker of slower weapon and such.
Since you were using a hammer, you could try the Flails, like Nightrider one, you can get it pretty early and its a really good weapon.
Dunno how rare the drop is though, dont think its that rare, since didnt took me long to drop on all my characters.
They're easy, you can find them as early as Weeping Peninsula.
Good thing I've been just wandering around over going to the castle. Will hopefully stats to use the spear by the time it drops, since stats are now in the 4k range (been leveling vigor, think its 19 right now, think my character level is 25)
Coded Sword
Sword of Night and Flame
Winged Schyte
There are some other faith weapons but they are sort of into late game.
To get Coded Sword, you need to beat the mounted knight guarding the gate to Leydnell, which can be problematic for low level. You can cheese it by sneaking behind him, and casting Poison Fog on it until it eats it away (going to be a slow process). Then once the gate seal diminished, you just go to the fort behind West Rampart and loot the Coded Sword from a chest inside the fort.
To get Sword of Night and Flame you ride past Stormwind fort through the lakes and access Caria Manor, go to the upper level and jump down from the eastern bastion to drop into the a ruined building and loot the weapon from a chest. This weapon will require some strength stat.
To get Winged Scythe, ride to Tombsward Ruins and find the basement to loot the Winged Scythe from a chest. This weapon will also require some strength investment.
You don't need any arcane to make bleed weapons work, unless you put the blood infusion on them. Just think of them as slightly weaker, regular weapons that reduce a bosses health bar by 20% after a few hits.
Tree Spear is a pretty cool dex/fai weapon you can get right after castle stormveil. It has pretty high stat requirements for an early game weapon though.
Of course, there's always the Blood Hound Fang, if you're looking for the best of the best.
Not very rare. Took me way longer to farm a great knife.
Winged Scythe is another solid early option but you need to test if move set is to your liking. I prefer either spears for long reach or sword for general use.
