What's the point of ganking a duelist? (Red furled finger)
You drop a red sign to politely request pvp, but you're surrounded by 3 dudes where your sign was placed and you get cut down before you even really get into the world.
This is why this game will die. After a couple playthroughs, the online community is such ♥♥♥♥ that the game will expire. There's no longevity in this. DS series survived for as long as it did because there was balance. This game has none.
Fromsoft needs to bring back DS servers.

That's why you keep a shield with Carian Retaliation in your left hand and Wraith Calling Bell in your toolbar

You shouldn't need to resort to glitches to enjoy competitive multiplayer.

feels like more than half the time i got summoned as a red, it was pretty clearly by mistake. more often than not it's an unfortunately accident i think. but some people are still scummy, regardless

put it back on them, if they're stupid enough to stand near your summon, unlike other dark souls games you have temporary invincibility that lasts more than long enough to use an ability, let them swing at you as you use an AOE skill and you can kill them easily. Bloodboon ritual is HILARIOUS against people trying to gank you, starcaller cry is also great.

Don't think of it as a gank, think of it as getting 3x the kills for free.

No different than normal invading when you think about it. They are there to spoil what you want to do. You opted in by using the sign. People just playing the game don't really want to be invaded either. Both scenarios are about ruining someone else's fun.

If you think the Souls series survived because of PvP, you're out of your freakin mind.

@Broso Are you stupid? It was the only thing to do once you beat the game 7+ times. Unless you were a speedrunner, you played for pvp.

folks just love downplaying how popular the online aspects of the games are, for some unknown reason

It absolutely did survive because of PvP
This game would lose half its player base TODAY if they just turned on the servers for the other games, which is why they haven't!

Waves of Darkness is another good anti gank tool although it's more for strength builds.

Waves is fun, just bloodboon and starcaller are almost always oneshots or at the very least staggers leaving them open for crit if you hit people with them when they're trying to attack you which makes them quite a bit better in the situation of being surrounded on spawn in.
