Do you want a pro Elden Ring pvp scene?
Imagine if devs suddenly fix all the issues with pvp. Do you think this game could be viable for a pro scene?
Some guy even dropped college just from a potential of having a pro scene. So maybe there is a future in that department.

"pro" as in a competetive esports that draws in viewers for tournaments? Not in a million years.

"pro" as in a competetive multiplayer experience with an MMR system? Maybe

lol No there wont be. This has probably the worst PvP in the series so far. They have a ways to go to fix it. And if past games are any indication they will just bandaid the worse stuff but I don't expect drastic change. Like Ash of War's need to be completely reworked so that they are harder to spam than spells not easier. But that isn't likely to happen cause they cater to PvE.

The skill ceiling in modern Souls PVP is too low to support an e-sports scene. If you remove the broken builds, it's literally mix-ups, spacing and whiff punishes. It's like competitive Street Fighter if you only had the normal moves.

Guys there are actually competitive fighting games out there. Don't waste your time and hopes on the Souls PvP if you want to be competitive.

they never have before, but hey they could reinvest some of the unexpected profits back into the game with a solid pvp platform and depending how the arenas go. it's not impossible, just highly unlikely.

Souls games always had ♥♥♥♥ pvp.
Only souls game with decent pvp is ds2.

I have an honest question, have those of you that think the souls games have good pvp ever played an actual competitive or even pvp focused game before?

The pvp community in these games is, by all accounts and estimates a fraction of a percentage of the user base, these are pve games with a very basic bare minimum pvp 'system' tacked on, which, by all accounts the creator has been trying to minimise and get rid of ever since.

I'm sure they have. But most developers in the industry have no balls. Not a one of them have had the guts to make other cool PvE games that integrate the PvP into it seamlessly with no opt out so it actually gets use. Just like they also don't have the guts to design their games to be as obscure, and have so much faith in players to have patience, and figure everything out or not get frustrated. As such this series remains pretty much the only place to get this time of gameplay so they stick around despite the pretty awful PvP balancing.

DS1 has the highest skill ceiling by about 10 miles.

I think most people who fall into this pitfall simply don't know about e-sport scenes, nor have they tried actual competitive games.

But that is just fighting people who do not want to fight, thst is the opposite of competitive and total carebear behaviour, it's not done as its massively unpopular and only liked by a very small minority.

However, if you were to look to the mmo genre, there are alot of always active pvp games with far deeper and better combat systems, hell, world of warcraft has a vastly higher skill cap and pvp scene you could partake in, black desert is all out pvp everywhere and has arguably one of the best combat systems of any game.

You can even pick fights with people who do not want to be pvping in both, but, you will likely run into people who do want to pvp very often, which is surely a good thing?

Then you have full on fighting games, only, again, you'll have to fight people prepared to fight back...

Honestly I get a strong feeling that most invaders just are not very good at pvp and just want to attack people not geared or wanting to fight to stroke their ego.
