Let's talk about Poise
Is the Poise stat similar to Sekiro or Toughness in Nioh - i.e., you are less likely to be staggered and/or interrupted with combo attacks?

I'm wearing Blaidd's armor set except for the helm which I gives me a Poise of 45 or around there, and I believe Blaidd's armor offers one of the higher Poise value in game. However, I'm still staggered or interrupted attacks by some non-boss enemies in game.

You got the idea right, but the number has to be quite high to produce actual results.
Even upwards of 60 most mobs will still interrupt you from my experience.

Also it would seem some mobs straight up ignore your poise or do so much "poise damage" that it's the same thing in practice. Dogs are an example.

Found this - https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Poise. Does this provide a comprehensive explanation or there's more to add?

45 is nothing lol the highest poise you can get in the game is 133 with the bullgoat armor set and the bullgoat talisman. The second is the lionel armor which I think capped put at 100 and the banished knights is third which I roamed with most of the game. I forgot how much banished knights gives you but I think it was in the 60's or 70's.

Now with that said while having high poise does make you immune to small things here and there is honestly isn't worth it and it is better to just fashion souls. The only two poise armors worth anything is Lionel and bullgoat and both are ridiculously heavy and require high endurance to wear. So unless you want like 70 endurance to get a medium load, it is better to just stick with what looks cool.

i'd add that your attacks also give you poise and the heavier the weapon the more you get. if i'm wielding a dagger i get interrupted all the time unlike when i'm wielding a zweihander.

bullgoats makes equpping multiple weapons with 60 end = fatroll

I use veterans. The caps are sub50/50/100 50 and + buys you 1 hit 100 and + buys you 2 before staggered.

Veterans has the best all around stats or at least the most considered S rank.

that's not entirely true. i'm at ~40 endurance and wearing 2 peice bullgoat, 1 piece beast champion and 1 piece banished knight totaling 42 weight in armor and ~70 poise and i still have room for 3 weapons, a shield and a casting item. admitedly i'm wearing erdtree favor +2.

The thing is if your not 100 and or higher your gaining nothing over 50.

that's also not true. i constantly see enemies unable to interrupt me. weilding a zweihander even dogs don't interrupt me in first hit. bosses also. for example malenia is unable to stun me when i'm bonking her.

Interesting, is there comprehensive data yet on poise damage?

I don't think it effects dmg you take just stagger/interupt from where i got the info i just know it was explained just like lvl caps. sub 50/ 50 and up / 100 and up.

As far as dmg resistance goes I've stacked a bunch of crap and there seems to be diminishing returns....I've had all defences 50%+ and I still appear to take same dmg as 40's range for all physical and mid 30's for all the effect types. Especially noticeable in last fight where i boosted holy resistance to ridiculous lvls and intentionally took hits and was still scratching my head as the math did not add up.

Don't colossals get more hyper armor on their attacks or is that not a thing in ER
they do get a bunch of poise during attacks, yes. but from what i understand it's additive, because wielding the same zwei in a lighter set (~50 poise) doesn't provide the same results, so having a decent baseline poise matters a lot.

Key point first hit which is exactly where you are. 50-99......which you can just do with much lighter complete sets like veterans.

no its a thing I have used greatswords and colossal weapons and the hyper armour difference is quite noticeable.
weapon arts are possibly the worst abusers of hyper armour though with high poise.

so why would you say that i get nothing? also 50-99 is not a solid thing. its not like having 99 and having 50 is the same. far from it.

(unless ofc you're talking pvp in which case i have no clue)

How many times have you moved up 1 lvl in a stat to gain nothing? just like there are soft/med/hard caps in stats why would you think it would be different with any other stat?

Uh, never?
You always get something from stat points.
