Radahn is such a terrible boss fight
Update:
Finally beat Radahn.
My lvl was 45, vigor was 24, and I mostly used a +16 short bow spamming barrage w/ blood arrows, to proc hemorrhage.

I still absolutely hate how random and uncertain this fight can turn out every time, because of all the AI. If I wanted to simulate a chaotic pvp battle with unreliable co-op partners I'd go do that instead.

It would be a lot more tolerable if the friendly AI just auto-respawned, and I didn't have to go try to find the idiots' randomly placed summon spots every time they died.

Three big fat reasons:

1) Worthless idiot AI 'allies' that do insignificant damage, & die often + easily.

2) Lousy boss doesn't give a damn about those 'allies' half the time, making their one decent use as distracting cannon fodder worthless

3) So many potentially 1-hit KO moves in 2nd phase, unless of course you just farm runes and lvl your stupid vigor more.

just level to 90, level weapon too and he's easy. Beat him with no summons.

supposedly they un nerfed him.....I honestly did not notice it in ng+++ I deleted him before he could even become a asteroid with rapiers.....so no cheese running around on horse BS while he is deathrotted with a dragon incant.

Sounds like you make worthless comments that add nothing to the conversation ngl.
And yeah, I know about the 'easy mode' of just rot spamming the bastard, but I hate changing my playstyle for just one boss in any Souls game.

Several comments mentioning this, and while true it's a boring and lousy option. It takes a very long time, and it's a very unsatisfying way to 'fight' a boss.

Better nerf him more then
He got UN-nerfed, last I heard. Or at least changed so that he wasn't TOO nerfed. The boss itself is okay, it's the whole crappy AI vs AI setup that I hate.

You know, this isn't a bad idea, might be easier at least knowing the boss is always focusing on me, instead of randomly flailing around.

This seems to be the only solution for both players and devs. I don't understand why. He doesn't need nerfs (I know you're being sarcastic) what he needs is a gimmick rework.
No, I agree. Like I said earlier this post, the boss itself is fine, it's having to babysit all the stupid idiot AI 'friends' that make it so much more painful. Just having them automatically spawn in awhile after dying, or at the very least making their summoning spots much less annoying to have to track down. I want to fight a boss not have a stupid easter egg hunt.

My vigor was at 24.

Again, they 'un'nerfed him, or at least not as bad as he was before last mini patch. I am sure he was tougher before the first nerf though.

Lol damn, I was literally halfway there, at lvl 45 when I beat him.

I definitely never came close to wiping him out before his 2nd phase, he was always somewhere around half his lifebar when that happened.

I struck out with 9 replies to 9 commentators in one powerful follow-up post, like a mighty verbal version of Starscourge Radahn... and yet, over a day later, there is naught but silence and dismay.

Radahn is a event. He is ''supposed to be'' a roadblock that you have to prepare for. What we get instead is a easy gimmick bossfight. Like first boss in DS3, agressive and intimidating. But your guy started with fireball

Goes to a boss underleveled with low health and complains about 1HKOs...

Perfect logic.

If you didn't cheese him, hats off to you.

Soulslike games are pretty edgy, so too must its players be, at least a little bit.

Yeah, and definitely a fun boss fight... to watch. Much more annoying and obnoxious to play though. Yay babysitting many NPC AIs & hunting down summoning signs over and over.

Yes, I fought and (eventually) beat him at lvl 45 with 24 vigor. What is the suggested level + vigor for this guy anyway?

Thank you. Unless barrage spamming bloodbone arrows at him for hemorrhage procs counts as cheese?

procing bleed via arrows would be considered cheesing

Just fought him again, thinking my low level the first time around was the problem. Nope.
Still didn't like the fight, exactly b/c of the boss's randomness.

In fact the few times it did seem in control, was when they all had died... this may be one of the keys to making it work. When the boss, fighting all the summons, is being a random meat grinder with aprrox. 10% of the grinder in your field of view, it's a bit harder to learn the combo's...

Okay, so then what wouldn't be 'cheese' with such a weird and convulted boss-fight like this, then? Close-up melee combat?

This is definitely another part of why I hate this fight in practice, it's beyond obnoxious how truly random he is about who and where to attack, switching between yourself and AI opponents sometimes even mid-combo.
Along with the nuisance of running around to re-summon them, I think it'll be worth trying this boss fight again in NG+ without their 'help'. I won't be surprised if it's a better fight then.

24+ is close to the point where your health gain starts to accelerate significantly from vigor level ups.

You should do things in weeping peninsula and Liurnia before going to caelid. What is good vigor deepens on where you are, but if you are getting one shot by even the basic attacks then you have too little HP. I think I had 30 vigor + soreseal by that time I was facing Radahn.

WTF? No it's not. It's a completely normal mechanic that you don't have to go at all out of your way to exploit, craft some bleed arrows and get a bow. Strong tactics on their own are not cheese.

For me, Radahn is no different from other FS bosses. Learn his move set and you’ll be fine.
