square of is prolly one of the best sword skills and very versatile
unsheate is basically the same for katanas, tho some of em like the nagakiba has like double the range
hoarah loux earthshaker is neat
the gravity pulls are nice
the thrusting swords have a skill where u jump back with i frames and then lunge with 3-4 attacks
(theres also that frozen needle thrust sword which fires magic bolts on every HEAVY attack for no fp cost)
barricade shield is very strong in pvp
honestly there are many and the performance might depends on the weapon its used on
i saw a video on reddit of a guy with wild strikes on his great stars greathammer absolutely demolish and stunlock malenia with barely any fp cost
The Rosus's Axe can also be good. It can be tricky to time it, but it's amazing at inflicting additional damage while something is recovering from a critical hit/backstab.
I had some stupid fun putting wild strikes on a Great Stars with cold affinity. It's fantastic for crushing any quick and agile enemy that can be light staggered.
Ground Slam is under-appreciated, imo. It starts with you crouching and ends with you sitting on the ground, allowing you to dodge horizontal swings. The damage is surprisingly high and crushes posture.
Bubble Shower from Envoy's Long Horn is hilariously OP against large-sized enemies.
Small lances are in fact fun for pve because they do a 4 hit jump attack at the cost of no poise break. While meh it is great for proc build of anything!
Little ashes of war I've learned can be really powerful for op. For example you can double stac a proc on a proc type shield with the 'no ash ash of war,' and have a double proc shield that does not interfear with your L2 ash of the right hand weapon. Quick step for example is weaker BH step, and does all the same thing at less range so it is great too.
Double Slash is a high DPS multihit that can be put on most blades and halberds.
Spinning Strikes turns halberds into insane DPS machines. The spin hits about as fast as a straight sword R1 spam and each hit does full damage. Buff your attack and find an opening on a boss and spin to win. They will die VERY fast.
Wild Strikes is like Spinning Strikes but for axes and hammers. Hold button and go to town for crazy DPS on a good opening.
Flame of the Redmanes does insane poise and stance damage if you are looking for criticals.
Glintstone Pebble does good damage, stuns, and guarantees a powerful followup R2 lunging stab. Big, safe, hit-confirmed damage.
Glintblade Phalanx does massive stance damage if you are looking for criticals.
Ice Spear does decent stance damage and high ranged damage and can be put on any spear, twinblade, and halberd for a safe and powerful ranged attack rivaling any Sorcery.
Giant Hunt can be put on Colossal Greatswords and gives them a very powerful and punish chasedown stab which can send enemies flying and stun bosses. A great offensive ash for those tired of Bloodhound Step on their CSword.
